Our hearts are broken once again as we lost another first responder in the line of duty. Our thoughts and prayers are with the friends and family of Deputy Brandon Gaede and with the entire Phillipsburg first responder family. Rest easy, brother 💔🚓🕊
I’ve been writing and rewriting this over the last 24 hours.
Deputy Brandon Gaede answered a call this week in Phillipsburg, Kansas… and didn’t make it home. 😔
Like so many others in uniform, he wasn’t driven by praise or a paycheck.
He lived a purpose driven life.
And now, his absence is rippling across his family, his agency, his town, and far beyond.
We often say support first responders. But what does that look like?
It starts like this.
To send a card.
To post a message.
To check in.
To offer.
To do something.
It’s easy to read the article and move on.
It takes more heart to write a message.
Even more to find an address, grab a stamp, and send a handwritten card.
And it takes even more to say, what can we lift from this family’s shoulders?
I don’t know the full weight of the financial burden this family now faces. But I do know that when a first responder dies in the line of duty, it leaves behind more than grief.
There are real, practical needs too.
Financial relief does just that.
It helps remove the burden the family will carry as they try to move forward.
It’s not the only way to help, but it is one way.
If you’re looking for a place to begin, a verified GoFundMe has been created for the Gaede family.

This is how we show love in action.
Not just when the story is breaking, but long after it fades from the headlines.
We’re with you, Phillips County.
We’re with you, Gaede family.
