We were happy to partner with Spectrum Health Systems, Inc. yesterday for a free community testing event!

Spectrum is a not-for-profit organization that provides a comprehensive continuum of substance use disorder treatment and behavioral health services throughout Massachusetts. With the use of our Mobile Health Van, we were able to engage Spectrum's clients with free HIV, Hepatitis C, and Syphilis testing all right outside their door. Best way to keep ourselves and our community safe is to know our status by getting routinely tested! To learn more about HIV testing and prevention visit Let's Stop HIV Together.

Hepatitis C is also one of the leading causes of liver disease, especially among people who use drugs. Through routine testing and efficient treatment planning we can help ensure your liver health. We were thrilled to be one of many organizations gathered at Downtown Framingham Common, rain or shine, to share our services and resources.

We were also excited to be able to take our Mobile Health Van out for a spin in the community. Our health van is fully equipped to provide convenient, on-the-go HIV, Hepatitis C, and STI testing! Bringing JRI’s Program RISE straight to the community.

Program RISE is excited to share the launch of a new initiative for the City of Framingham—SPOT (Syringe Pinpoint Observation Tool), introduced at the Framingham Earth Day Festival on Saturday 5/3! SPOT was created in response to community concerns about improperly discarded syringes in public spaces.

SPOT is an easy-to-use online survey that lets community members report syringe sightings with a photo and geolocation, allowing Program RISE staff to safely and quickly retrieve them. This initiative not only promotes safety by reducing syringe litter, but also helps address needlestick concerns, raise awareness about HIV and Hepatitis C prevention, and educate the public on safer syringe handling.

Justice Resource Institute’s Program RISE is thrilled to announce that we were selected by Spectrum Health Systems, Inc. to receive a $5000 grant for our positive impact on the lives of people served. This funding will support the vital work that RISE continues to do for our community.

We received the check yesterday, December 23 from the wonderful staff of Spectrum Health Systems, Inc. RISE remains committed to making a positive impact on our client’s lives through our services.

On December 5, the Program RISE HIV Services team partnered with SMOC to host a World AIDS Day event. The event featured guest speakers, free HIV and STI testing, gifts for clients, live music, and a candlelight memorial to remember MetroWest community members who have been lost to HIV and AIDS. This was RISE’s first World AIDS Day event since prior to the COVID pandemic, and we were happy to see an amazing turnout of clients and staff! We look forward to hosting more events in the future.
