Do you feel like you are going 90-to-nothing every single minute of every single day?

It is not uncommon, but it is incredibly taxing and unhealthy to your body and overall well-being.

Revving at high RPMs every moment of every day for years on end will take a heavy toll, my friends. So if you are already struggling with weight, or illness, or aches & pains, or anxiety, or depression, or just general malaise - your nervous system needs some help in order to heal!

Want to know a secret?

Walking is the easiest was to regulate your nervous system into its preferred calmer state.

In fact, there are 5 powerful ways daily walking will help you get your nervous system back in balance:

1 --> It regulates your stress response: Walking activates your parasympathetic nervous system, shifting your body from ‘fight or flight’ to ‘rest and digest.’ This helps lower adrenaline, lower cortisol, and calm anxiety.

2 --> It balances the neurotransmitters in your brain: Movement increases dopamine and serotonin, which is essential for mood stability and focus. It’s like giving your brain a natural boost without supplements.

3 --> It improves vagal tone: Walking stimulates your vagus nerve, which is a key player in emotional regulation and gut-brain communication, so it supports both mental clarity and digestion.

4 --> It encourages mindful breathing: Walking outside syncs your breath with your steps, which creates a state of flow, promoting better resilience to stress overall. Think of this as expansion of being, rather than confinement or constriction.

5 --> It improves blood flow and circulation to help regulate blood pressure naturally (WITHOUT meds!).

The best part? It’s accessible, free, and low-impact.

🏞️ Start small: A daily 20-minute walk can make a HUGE difference. Your nervous system will thank you 🙏.

And you know how you can make it even BETTER?....
👟Go for a walk upon waking, with the sunrise ☀️
👟Go for a walk barefoot, or wear grounding sandals or shoes
👟Go for a walk as a family, as a couple, or with friends
👟Walk in nature as opposed to a gym or in the office with a treadmill
👟Go walking without headphones - use the time for breathing, meditation, appreciation.

Finally...
— Getting or staying healthy is NOT about doing MORE. It's about doing the simple things BETTER and more consistently.

I can't think of a better way to start a new habit that to start your daily walking TODAY.

🌟 What makes you GLOW? 🌟

Like, lit-up-from-within ... tickled pink ...happy heart ...feel-good-look-good ...powerful ...Imma Rockstar ...feel-like-singing kinda GLOW?

Yes, there are habits and choices that you can make to ensure healthy, glowing skin....but right now, I am talking about the GLOW that lights you up from the inside and makes your whole aura shine bright...

I hope you have many facets of life that make you GLOW!

As I am approaching my 55th year around our sun, I can tell you that I have learned to really dial in to the things that make me GLOW - speaking, teaching, coaching, writing, and training.

Doing every single one of those things makes me feel fired up, confident, intentional, and purposeful.

In celebration of my upcoming birthday month 🎂, I will be sharing a couple of amazing opportunities to up-level your own personal GLOW game - so keep watching for more details here.

And in the meantime, I thought I would share a few additional tips that will help you to find and maintain that beautiful, physical GLOW in your skin:

🍊 Amplify your health with vitamin C. This powerhouse nutrient boosts your immune system and promotes radiant skin.

🏋️‍♀️ Exercise daily. Not only does it strengthen your body, but it also releases endorphins that enhance your mood and your glow.

💧 Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate! Drinking water keeps your skin plump, minimizes wrinkles, and maintains that healthy glow.

💤 Prioritize sleep. A good night's rest (8-9 hours!!) rejuvenates your body and skin, contributing to a fresh, youthful glimmer.

🌿 Incorporate green tea into your diet. Its antioxidants combat aging and help to maintain a radiant complexion.

Ultimately, remember that finding and maintaining your GLOW is an inside job!

Day 8: Sing, Gargle, Gag!⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Did you know that singing along to holiday songs can actually promote hormone balance? So can gargling water and initiating a gag reflex.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Singing, gargling and gagging all stimulate and strengthen the vagus nerve which is the longest nerve in your body. The vagus nerve rules important organ activity in the:⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
*Brain (neurotransmitter hormones!)⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
*Neck (thyroid hormones!)⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
*Intestines (more neurotransmitter, thyroid and other hormone activity!)⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
*Liver (excretion of excess hormones!)⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
*Pancreas (insulin and related hormones!)⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
*Kidney (cortisol and DHEA hormones!)⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
*And reproductive organs (estrogen, progesterone and testosterone hormones!)⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
That’s a lot of organs producing important hormones and performing important functions in the body!⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
If the vagus nerve is weak it won’t be able to do a good job telling the rest of the organs in your body to do their job and therefore hormone production and balance will take a hit. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Your vagus nerve also translates information between the gut and the brain. If one of them is not getting the right signals, the whole ship can sink! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Don’t worry, it’s super easy to strengthen your vagus nerve, especially during the holidays! Next time your favorite holiday (or other) tune comes on the radio, sing your socks off to stimulate that vagus nerve. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
You can also gargle water daily- your gargle should be long enough to make it feel challenging. Or the next time you brush your teeth, lay your toothbrush on the back of your tongue and push down to activate a gag reflex.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Day 6: Bank Some Sleep⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Sleep is the first thing to go during the holiday season. We burn the midnight oil this time of year to meet last-minute work deadlines, by staying up late to shop online, and wrapping presents when kids or loved ones are asleep...⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Have you ever noticed that even when you allow yourself to sleep in after a late night, you just don’t wake up feeling as rested?⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Our body is on an internal time clock according to the sun cycles, with specific times of day for doing critical work to keep our hormones balanced.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
From 10pm-2am, the body releases human growth hormone to repair damaged tissues or cells, and create new cells. This is also when cortisol levels are at their lowest and melatonin hormone peaks to support restful sleep. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
And from 2am-4am, the liver and gallbladder get to work detoxifying to release toxins.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
If we miss these windows of sleep, our body clock does not shift and we miss out on these important functions which means --> our hormones take a hit. Constantly staying up late can completely flip cortisol rhythm, mess with melatonin production and disrupt other hormones.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Obviously there are some fun-filled and valid reasons to miss some shut-eye this time of year, but pay attention to your sleep timing on all the other days.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Every 1 hour of sleep before midnight is worth 2 hours of rest! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
When you don’t have holiday obligations, aim to be in bed by 10pm or earlier to maximize your body's internal rhythms. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Quality sleep at the optimal times will help you to wake up feeling rested & make it through the holidays without jacking up your hormones. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Day 5: Crush Some Cruciferous Veggies⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Holiday celebrations often mean cocktails are flowing…and estrogen levels are on the rise.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
One alcoholic beverage can increase estrogen levels in the body for up to 24 hours. With back-to-back holiday festivities, our bodies may not get a full 24-hour break for estrogen levels to fall back to normal.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Constantly elevated estrogen levels from alcohol consumption can lead to estrogen dominance which can trigger thyroid imbalances, sleep issues and mood swings. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
But don’t worry, you can still indulge this holiday season if you focus on crushing some cruciferous veggies when you eat.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Cruciferous vegetables are a staple in an anti-estrogenic lifestyle. They contain a compound called DIM (3’3 diindolylmethane) which helps your body remove estrogen through the liver.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
DIM isn’t the only reason why cruciferous veggies are anti-estrogenic. Most of them also contain chlorophyll (found in the green leaves) which reduces estrogen through improved liver health. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Next time you eat, see if you can incorporate some of these cruciferous veggies:⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Arugula⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Bok Choy⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Broccoli⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Brussels Sprouts⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Cabbage⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Cauliflower⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Collard Greens⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Kale⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Mustard greens⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Radish⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Turnip⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
(Some of my favorite seasonal dishes include roasted Brussels sprouts!) ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Keep that estrogen in check by crushing some cruciferous veggies as we wind down the year! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Day 4: Wake Up with Warm Water⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
It’s cold outside ❄️ so why not start your day off with some warm lemon-salted water while you brew your usual cup of joe or tea? ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Beyond warming you up, your hormones can hugely benefit by starting your day off with warm water with a slice of lemon and pinch of sea salt. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Lemons have been shown to help detoxify the liver. The liver is where we convert hormones, such as thyroid T4 to T3, and it helps remove excess hormones such as estrogen which lead to weight gain, sleep and mood issues if it builds up.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
A pinch of Himalayan or sea salt promotes better hydration and electrolyte balance which is important for hormone and bodily functions. Plus the magnesium, sodium and potassium in the salt nourishes the adrenal glands which largely produce cortisol and DHEA hormone and also contribute to the production of adrenaline, estrogen and other hormones as well.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Warm or room temperature water aids the absorption of the lemon and salt nutrients into the body, and promotes digestive and bowel function, which is how we excrete toxins that impact hormone balance. Essentially, warm water gives the insides of your body a gentle nudge to get going.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
During the craziness of the holidays, we are more likely to forget to drink water throughout the day and indulge in other activities such as drinking alcohol & more coffee which dehydrate and rob us of nutrients even more.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Add a cup of warm, lemon-salted water to your morning to give your hormones a healthy boost to start your day!⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
