Yesterday we wrapped up the second class of the NC OSFM Pump Series: Hydraulics & Water Supply, hosted by Garner Fire-Rescue.

Throughout the week, students trained on hydrant operations, drafting, and rural water supply scenarios—building essential skills to enhance fireground efficiency and teamwork.

We were proud to welcome students from across North Carolina, representing:

These classes will feature the Father and son duo of Lewis Smith and Samuel Smith as co-instructors.

This week, we conducted the NC Intro/Basic Pumps Certification Class at Garner Fire Rescue, where students honed multiple skills to become effective driver operators.

Through our collaboration with Eastern Carolina Fire Training, we have delivered the Rapid Intervention Crew (RIC) program to Martin Community Colleges Fire Academy over the past week, providing students with comprehensive training through a range of scenarios in preparation for an event we hope they will never experience.

Jeff Brown was one of our Driver Operator students and a friend. He completed his Driver Operator Pump and Aerial Certification Classes. He was a great guy and friend. Our prayers are with his blood family and his Fire Department families. Rest in Peace my friend.

Jeff had left the Career Fire Service however still volunteered with Davie Fire. I just spoke to Jeff last week and he was giving me an update on his new career with Adult Corrections. He was telling me about his plans to try to move into the training division in the future.

Please keep Firefighter Jeff Brown's Family and His Davie Family in your Thoughts and Prayers with His Sudden Passing. He has also been a Former Roanoke Rapids and Rheasville Firefighter.
