NaturKur Wellness Welcome to Naturkur Wellness, the online virtual practice of Dr. Iris Crawford. There’s a new kind of woman leader in this world and it’s YOU. It’s for you.

Dr. Crawford helps busy, burned-out women get their health and energy back so they can make a bigger impact in the world! I believe you have the ability to make a bigger impact if you were empowered with your health. Because of this, you would have a more fulfilling career, higher income, improved relationships, and more passion and joy in life. You would have a life you love, where you jump out o

f bed every day, full of excitement and energy, and have plenty of free time to spend with your family. You would be able to travel, learn new things, change lives, and inspire other people to make a bigger impact too. The new woman in this world is the leader that wants to make a difference and stand in her birthright of being half of humanity. An empowered woman ready for our gentle takeover, where we get paid more than men and powerfully lead the world in our own bold and feminine way. This is for you, the professional woman who wants to make a bigger impact and stop the pattern of struggle because even after working harder and harder, it’s never good enough. The executive who wants to follow your dreams but you are exhausted all the time because the pressure of keeping up with the projects and the deadlines is keeping you up at night. It’s for the career woman who wants to get to the top but is juggling being a mother, partner, lover, sister, and daughter and barely keeping all the balls up in the air. You can have it all. But not until you become empowered with your health. For years your health issues have been ignored because our healthcare standards are according to the male norm. You aren’t getting the help you need with your health and it’s keeping you from getting ahead. Doctors have told you everything is normal yet you don’t feel fully 100%. You wonder why you feel depressed even though you’ve reached this level of success. Anxiety and stress make you feel too overwhelmed to be productive and you feel like you are on a hamster wheel, never getting anywhere. There is a hidden epidemic that affects all women and until it's addressed, you will continue to struggle and have to work harder and you may not ever get to where you want to be. Once you become empowered with your health, you can reach your highest goals. Imagine what would be possible if the low energy and brain fog were gone or the worries, fears, and anxieties that have been holding you back until now were eliminated. You can have a meaningful life, full of love, and purpose. You can live to your highest potential and do whatever it is you were put on this planet to do. The world is waiting for you.

Many women experience chronic fatigue that's often dismissed as "normal" due to age or poor stress management. However, this persistent exhaustion may be a sign of adrenal dysfunction, a condition characterized by inadequate cortisol production.

When your adrenal glands aren't functioning optimally, it can lead to hormonal deficinecies and cause a range of debilitating symptoms, including fatigue, dizziness, brain fog, and more.

Identifying and addressing adrenal dysfunction is crucial for restoring your energy and overall well-being.

Hormones are powerful chemical messengers that play a crucial role in regulating our body's essential functions, including our energy levels. Here's why maintaining hormonal balance is key to feeling energized and revitalized:

- Thyroid Hormones: The thyroid gland produces hormones that control our metabolism. An underactive thyroid (hypothyroidism) can lead to symptoms of fatigue and sluggishness.

- Adrenal Hormones: The adrenal glands release cortisol, our primary stress hormone, and DHEA, the "youth hormone." Imbalances in these hormones can impact our body's response to stress and its ability to generate vitality.

- Insulin: The hormone insulin helps regulate our blood sugar levels. Poor blood sugar control can result in energy crashes and fatigue.

- Reproductive Hormones: Estrogen, progesterone, and testosterone also influence our overall well-being, including our energy levels.

- Growth Hormones: These hormones stimulate growth and cellular repair, crucial for maintaining optimal energy and vitality.

By addressing potential imbalances in these key hormones, you can support your body's natural energy production and experience sustained vitality throughout the day.

If you're struggling with persistent fatigue or low energy, it's essential to work with a healthcare provider who understands the intricate interplay of hormones and their impact on your overall well-being.

When we think of women's hormones, estrogen and progesterone often come to mind. But did you know that the world of hormones is far more complex and diverse? Join us as we explore some of the lesser-known players in the intricate symphony of hormonal regulation:

1. Testosterone: Often referred to as the "male hormone," testosterone is present in both men and women and plays a crucial role in various bodily functions, including muscle mass, bone density, and libido.

2. DHEA (Dehydroepiandrosterone): Known as the "parent hormone," DHEA is a precursor to several other hormones and is essential for overall hormonal balance.

3. Cortisol: The primary stress hormone, cortisol helps regulate our body's response to stress and plays a key role in maintaining blood sugar levels.

4. Melatonin: Responsible for regulating our sleep-wake cycle, melatonin is a powerful hormone that influences our overall sleep quality.

5. Thyroid Hormones (T3 and T4): Produced by the thyroid gland, these hormones are vital for metabolism, energy production, and overall well-being.

These are just a few examples of the diverse array of hormones that work together to keep our bodies in harmony. Understanding the roles and interactions of these hormones is crucial for achieving optimal health and well-being.

Despite what many people might think, menopause and hormonal deficiency are not the same thing. The term "menopause" refers to a specific point in time, marking the end of a woman's reproductive years when hromones naturally decline. In contrast, "hormonal deficiency" refers to lower than normal levels of hormones for your age.

During menopause, the body undergoes a natural hormonal shift as the ovaries decline in function. Depending on pre-existing hormone levels, this shift can lead to a variety of symptoms, such as hot flashes, night sweats, mood changes, and changes in menstrual patterns.

It's important to recognize that while menopause is a natural and inevitable phase for women, the symptoms associated with this transition are not a necessary part of the process. Adressing the underlying deficiencies and imbalances that exist so symtpoms are mild or nonexistent is key to avoid reliance on hromone replacement or other prescription medication.

If you're experiencing disruptive symptoms during menopause and you don't want to have to take hormones for the rest of your life just to feel normal, don't suffer in silence. We can help!

My Story

I grew up in a very poor family, and we always struggled to survive. From a very young age, I knew this wasn’t the life I wanted. I hated watching my family struggle and suffer for so many years. The concept of health lit me up inside because I realized that poverty and poor health go hand-in-hand and that the way out was through better health.

After the most difficult struggle of my life up to that point—15 years of college, including 5 and a half years of medical school—I was burned out and 20 pounds overweight. Even as a health expert I couldn’t seem to get my own health turned around. I had discovered firsthand the powerful impact that stress has, especially on women.

Now, after years of research and medical practice seeing hundreds of women successfully lose weight and get their energy back, I believe that high-achieving women aren’t getting the help they need to stay healthy and happy. Our culture shames women if they aren’t perfect and perpetuates the inaccurate, simplified view of weight loss. Weight loss is not just about calories in and calories out and treating adrenal burnout and repairing the metabolism is often the missing link to successful and sustained weight loss.

I know what it’s like to have big dreams and want to make an impact on the world. This starts with taking care of ourselves. Growing up with just me, my mom, and my sister and not being able to help them before their health deteriorated is what inspires me to help my patients today. I’m passionate about helping women resolve the underlying issues that cause daily health and weight struggles so that they can feel fit and healthy and continue shaping this amazing world we live in.
