✅ Support businesses and organizations that hire people with disabilities (like Eggleston!)
✅ Share stories and celebrate accomplishments of people with disabilities
✅ Advocate for policies that remove barriers—not people

To celebrate Disability Pride Month, each July Eggleston hosts the All Fired Up Cookout to celebrate Independence and Inclusion for all individuals. Last Sunday was the 3rd annual All Fired Up Cookout which was held at our corporate headquarters in Norfolk. We hosted over 160 Eggleston staff and program participants and their families. There was food, music, karaoke, games, photo booth, and so much more.

Thank you to all the staff and volunteers who worked so hard to make this event happen. And thank you to all who came out to celebrate with us.

Did you know the Disability Pride Flag has deep symbolism behind every stripe?

The current design features a diagonal banner across a charcoal background—each color representing a different type of disability:
💚 Green: Sensory disabilities
💙 Blue: Emotional and psychiatric disabilities
🤍 White: Non-visible and undiagnosed disabilities
💛 Gold: Neurodiversity
❤️ Red: Physical disabilities

The diagonal stripe represents light breaking through barriers.
The charcoal background honors those lost to ableism, violence, neglect, and illness—and symbolizes resistance.
