Use Reinforcement Immediately

The timing of reinforcement matters! ⏱️ To strengthen a behavior, make sure the reinforcer (whether it’s praise, a token, or an M&M!) is delivered immediately after the desired behavior. Even a few seconds of delay can weaken the connection between the behavior and its reward.

✅ Quick Tip: Keep reinforcers handy and your attention sharp—catch those great moments as they happen!

✨ Instead of reacting only when your child does something wrong, catch them doing something right and praise it!

🔁 Example:
Instead of saying, “Stop yelling!”
Try: “I love how you’re using a calm voice—great job!”

✅ Strengthens your relationship
