Does your child ever seem to “check out” or melt down over the (seemingly) tiniest thing? 😵‍💫
It might not be behavior—it might be sensory overload. 🙈

Enter: SENSORY BREAKS.

Here’s why they matter:
👉 They calm the nervous system
👉 Improve focus + attention
👉 Reduce meltdowns
👉 Support better transitions
👉 Build self-regulation skills over time

When supporting kids across clinic, school, and home settings, being prepared is everything. ✅

From theraputty to tiny dinos, my tote is basically a mobile sensory gym / handwriting lab / snack stash / emergency fun kit. 🦖🖍️✏️—we tailor each session to meet kids where they’re at, wherever they are!

OT is for the wiggly ones, the cautious climbers, the deep-feeling feelers, the mess-makers, the late-bloomers, the sensory seekers, and the kids who just need a little help being their awesome, chaotic, magical selves.

In pediatric OT, we help little ones ride the waves of big feelings — not fear them, not avoid them, just move through them.

Today’s reminder: emotions are like clouds ☁️ — they pass. Let’s teach our kids (and ourselves) not to chase the storm or the sunshine. Just feel, breathe, and keep playing. 🎈✨

We’re choosing “regulated” over “overstimulated” this Independence Day 🇺🇸💛 Whether your kiddo loves the BOOM or needs a cozy room, there’s no “right” way to celebrate.

These tips help kids feel safe, seen, and supported — and that’s what freedom really looks like. ✨

OT doesn’t just happen during sessions. With a little creativity there are ways that OT activities can show up in your child’s everyday life!💡

This one trick helps picky eaters, builds coordination, and supports emotional regulation—all while you make dinner.

We call it multi-sensory mealtime, and it’s an OT fave.

Start with small tasks: pouring/measuring dry rice > yogurt blobs. Progress over perfection, always. 🍽️

What OT tips do you have that actually work for a busy life?

In pediatric OT, play isn’t just fun—it’s therapeutic. It’s how kids develop motor planning, sensory integration, emotional regulation, and social connection all at once.

When a child is stacking blocks, pretending to cook, or swinging on a jungle gym—they’re building neural pathways, not just passing time.

Play is the work of childhood! 🧠🖐️🧩

Do you Use “WHEN–THEN” structure to help kids move through transitions without meltdowns?

Kids thrive on structure and predictability. When–Then language gives them a clear preview of what’s happening next without needing to resort to bribes or threats.

It’s not a just reward system, it’s a tool that builds routine!

Here’s a few more examples of how it can sound in real life:
👉 “When we clean up the blocks, then we can play outside.”
👉 “When your shoes are on, then we’ll head to the playground.”
👉 “When snack is finished, then we’ll read your favorite book.”

Pro OT Tip: Keep the “when” short + clear. The “then” should be something motivating, but not optional.

Just like flowers need sun, water, air and soil to blossom. Our kids need multiple elements to thrive. 🌱

Whether it is refining skills through gross motor play, or adopting new daily living skills, kids need a support system. Kids are always growing and learning in subtle ways — one of the cool things about OT is that we can observe the little things and use that as special fuel to reach goals and milestones faster (and even give parents things to look out for!) That’s why we enjoy working in partnership with parents, teachers, and other professionals to ensure our kiddos can bloom!🌸

Summer sessions in full swing? If you’re an OT who’s bouncing between home visits, clinics, and maybe even a playground or two—this one’s for you!

Here are 5 ways we’re staying grounded (literally and energetically) as schedules heat up:
1. Pre-Session Rituals 🧘‍♀️
We take 60 seconds before each session to breathe, set an intention, and ground in—so we show up calm, present, and connected.
2. Mobile OT Kits = Less Chaos 🎒
Each therapist has a go-to, grab-n-go bag with essentials + plug-and-play activities from the MOST Method™. Fewer decisions = more presence.
3. Body Check-Ins Midday 🚶‍♀️
Quick stretch, posture reset, hydrate. We treat our bodies like we treat our clients’—with love and attunement.
4. Nature Breaks = Nervous System Support 🌿
Even 5 minutes of barefoot grounding, sunshine, or a drive with the windows down makes a huge difference in how we regulate.
5. Reflect & Release ✍️
End-of-day journaling, voice notes, or a quick chat— We process as we go, so we don’t carry it into tomorrow.

Happy Father’s Day to the everyday heroes! 💙

Today we celebrate the dads, stepdads, grandpas, uncles, and father figures who show up with strength, patience, and love. Whether you’re building forts, cheering from the sidelines, or practicing OT play at home—you’re making a difference every single day.

From all of us at MOST Kids OT, thank you for being your child’s biggest supporter!

mOST Wonderful Beginnings

Morgan Occupational and Speech Therapy (mOST) is a boutique therapy clinic providing professional, personalized, high-quality pediatric occupational therapy and speech therapy services conveniently in our Malibu sensory gym, local private schools, and Southern California homes. Our goal is to create opportunities for your child to achieve independence and success as efficiently as possible, ultimately reaching their highest potential for learning, play, communication, and life skills.

Jennifer Morgan, CEO and Occupational Therapist, founded mOST in August of 2013 while working in Malibu public schools with a vision to make occupational therapy and speech therapy more convenient, efficient and fun for both the developing child and the involved parents.

In the Fall of 2014, Jennifer created the new Occupational Therapy program at Park Century School, an innovative institution that specializes in preparing students with learning differences for high school and beyond. She is thrilled to have her services with mOST become a part of Park Century School’s academic and enrichment program, and she has enjoyed watching the OT program at Park Century School become an even more comprehensive curriculum for its students.

Jennifer’s specialized training includes Handwriting Without Tears, Interactive Metronome, Reflex Integration, Sensory Processing Integration, ALERT Program, and more. Parents, teachers, professionals, and especially the children she works with, enjoy having Jennifer as their OT; they appreciate her expertise, and her efficient and direct approach to helping them grow to their fullest potential. Jennifer’s practice allows her the freedom to work on a wide range of skills with clients, and she tailors a unique therapeutic program for each child.
