When I started she was still crawling and he watched from the sidelines. So if you were to ask me now what my biggest accomplishment as a health and fitness coach is … my answer will be them ♥️

I started it for me, I grew by helping others but the biggest reward is by far what it has done for my family and a lifestyle we live by. Maybe this post means nothing for you and that’s 💯 ok, it isn’t meant for you. I post to hopefully reach someone who does need it. Who needs to understand even if you have no one in your corner right now by showing up for yourself every day you may make a impact on others that you never saw coming. This message is for that person and you have a open invitation to join me doing those “at home” workouts I started 7 years ago and never stopped because that’s how well it works ♥️

You didn’t build this Ship to Wreck it 💣
Heard those words in my personal development this morning and I was like ok universe I hear you 🤦🏻‍♀️😂
Truth is I’m coasting... and I have been for a while. I’m going through all the right motions, but I’m not digging in. And it is leading me straight towards a mental shipwreck.

Taking my ships wheel back into my hands... I didn’t build this ship known as my family and my businesses to wreck it. Whatever storm your ship may be sailing through right now, just know that you may need to send a sos out for help. More than likely you are the only one in your storm and unless you send out that signal no one knows the distress your ship is in Sailor 🚢. Go put on your Captains hat and take control ♥️

Those home workouts never work ... I have to laugh every time I hear this.
Question:
Did you give it a chance?
Did you ever do the workout? ( or did you just get it and think that the weight would fall of buy purchasing it? 🤷‍♀️)

After talking to a current challenger this morning I am just a little fired up on this topic.

She’s lost 20 lbs since New Years!!!! How incredible is that? You wanna know what else is incredible? She worked for it... which means it’s actually gonna stay off because she knows how now.

You can buy a quick fix, you can do the new trendy diet but chances are you cannot sustain either and the weight will come back. How many times have you been given something for free and really appreciated it? That’s what quick fixes are....

Now take the time to actually work for it and you are darn proud when you achieve even the smallest milestones. Oh and you know how to do it again and again and again. AND.... your health is better for it! You can loose all the weight in the world, but are you healthier from it or did you deplete muscle along with fat and bloat? There’s a difference in strong and skinny... Just sayin.

So yeah, those home workouts do work!!! But only if you do!

I interrupt this day of professing your love for others to remind you to love yourself 😉.

Want to love others more, improve your health and just be happier in general…that’s your answer.

Get up and go for a walk, even if it’s around your house. Choose real food to nourish your body instead of something quick to get you by… all it’s doing is literally getting you by till you have to make the next bad decision because you are constantly rushed. Slow down and make time for yourself. Literally begin anywhere instead of doing nothing.

I know it’s not the easiest choice to radically make over your daily choices but choose one thing today and start to love yourself. Don’t tell me it’s complicated or expensive… walking, meditating and praying are all free and all of those simple acts will do wonders for your health.

What is something you always wanted to do but just haven’t?

Even with the best of intentions, my to do, goal, and bucket list are crazy long and I’m starting to learn that the magic fairy who comes along to put a little fire under my butt …. Doesn’t exist 🙃

In a world where everything is moving fast, busy is a badge of honor and being tired shows just how “awesome” you are as a parent… how the heck are you supposed to take time for yourself?

Lose those last 15 lbs, rid the junk from the pantry for once and all, drink a gallon of water, rock a swim suit without feeling self conscious… just a few of the things that I am going to take off my list and put into real action this month.

There will be no “perfect” time to do the things I want to do , so I’m deciding that time is now! Now … I’m just hoping some friends have that same realization so I’m not doing this alone. Is it you?

Take actions so bold that you shock yourself of where you end up.

I went into business for myself 16 years ago as a commercial food photographer. I went after the big fish accounts that only the photography veterans of 30+ years were shooting… and I got them to take a chance on me. I was young and I was bold but I had nothing to loose.

If you would have told me then that career would lead me down a food industry rabbit hole and eventually lead me to second business venture of health and wellness I would have laughed in your face. My own health was a mess how on earth could I help anyone else?

Bold action…
-being bold enough to open up and say hey I need to work on myself want to join me and do it together.
- sharing the before and afters, the postpartum struggle, and the picky eaters.

I didn’t get here overnight or by luck. I took action time and time again and I never gave up.

Complaining about your health while not taking ownership of why things are happening is like complaining to everyone you are tired when you are choosing to not go to bed at night.

Take ownership.

Struggling with lifestyle diseases consume your time, energy and money. And let’s be honest if you are not actively trying to fix the problems then you are choosing that lifestyle. Flip the script... use your time, energy and money to fuel your body and feel your best. Stop using the excuse of its part of aging...

Sometimes I sit in disbelief at how different my life would be had I not said yes the first time I was invited to a challenge group by a group fitness instructor. To be honest saying no wasn’t a option. I was desperate for a new solution… I was a first time mom, barely using the gym membership I was paying a arm and a leg for, sleep deprived and overweight for the first time in my life.

I thought I was signing up for a 6 week workout program, but turns out it changed my whole path. That one yes has provided me with life long friends I would have never known. It’s what charted my course to go back to school for nutrition. It’s what keeps me hungry to help others the same way that single yes helped me.

I don’t have all the answers, but I do have 7 years of life hiccups, missteps and wins for you to learn from while I guide you through the jungle of health and wellness.

“Ruby’s skin has never looked better” I remember getting that text and wanted to cry. While we were tackling healthy eating for the whole family, that sweet girls skin was on the top of my to do list.

This was not a quick fix, but it was 13 weeks of investing in my clients needs, likes and schedule to help them transition from processed foods to a whole fresh food lifestyle.

I remember the moment well (which is strange being that it was roughly 2 am in 2018 and I was up nursing my newborn) when I first heard this. I was determined to stay awake during nighttime feedings and had chosen “Superlife” by Darin Olien to listen to on Audible each night to occupy me. This particular night I was on the chapter about water and I was hanging on to every word because it was one of the greatest chapters of a book I have ever read or listened to. Then I heard it… “maybe we don’t have a ADD problem, we have a dehydration problem.”
When I say that those words changed the entire course of my life I am not exaggerating. From that moment on I started deep dives and rabbit holes that kept me digging for more and more. It eventually led me to becoming certified as a Nutritional Therapy Practitioner and specializing in helping families implement healthy living with their kids.
In a article posted on August 21 titled 8 Brain-Boosting Food and Health Tips for Kids he states “Our neurological receptors malfunction when our cells go thirsty. A recent study determined that two-thirds of children show up for school every day slightly dehydrated. Let that sink in. Children are showing up to school at a losing point even before they open a book!” He goes on to say “they either don’t drink anything when they wake-up or they drink juice or some other liquid that contains sodium or amino acids (such as dairy milk!) or sugars that make their cells more dehydrated” and that “Researchers are also finding links between insufficient water and attention deficit disorder (ADD) and hyperactivity. Don’t you think that a piece of the “epidemic” of ADHD might have something to do with a child’s inability to focus caused by something as simple as not enough water?”

I’m no scientist, but I am a mom… and I can tell you I don’t even have to ask my 8 year old if she drank enough water when she gets home from school… her actions normally tell me. I cannot follow her around all day reminding her to drink enough, but as I mom I can make sure she drinks a glass of water before she ever walks out the door. I ask you to give it a try, focus on your kids water intake and let me know if you see a difference when they are actually HYDRATED!
