Once again, RIGS has new copies of Mallet & Chisel, the classic work on New England grave carving by Vincent Luti. A limited number of books have been printed with improved photos and paper, otherwise identical to the 2002 publication. It is being offered for sale by the Rhode Island Genealogical Society for $60. RIGS heartily congratulates the inaugural winner of the Cherry Fletcher Bamberg Award, Mary Burdick of Massachusetts. Mary's Rhode Island Roots article, "Peter States, Stoneware Potter of Rhode Island and Connecticut" which appeared in the September, 2024 issue, was an excellent example to all authors of how long-term research in a variety of repositories can unearth the real stories of families. Mary continued this family's story in a NYGB Record article. Congratulations Mary! Thank you for attending the recent 50th Anniversary event and accepting the award in person.
