"This image is part of a portfolio that I have been working on for several years in a fishing village in Guerrero, Mexico. I have been attending the ritual for several years when the fishermen arrive early in the morning with the catch they obtained during the night. This image expresses the energy of the birds as they receive their first meal of the day."

Water Tiger 2022

Chinese cosmology is based on the main principal “all phenomenon is composite.” When we look at the cycles of Qi/time via Chinese astrology we observe twelve animals exemplifying sixty facets of Qi, twelve animals times five phases.

In 2022 the cyclical influence of Qi is Water Tiger. Let us first consider the Qi of a couple prior years get a composite perspective. In 2020 year of the Metal Rat, Covid was upon us. Virus is associated with Rats, when viruses enter large families of Rats it moves quickly and unseen like the Rat, very much how the Covid virus behaves. The Lung, is the organ associated with Metal.

The year of the Metal Ox 2021 brought us to consider the conventions of life; family, community, society, health, and government. The emphasis on justice in 2021 is a demonstration of the Qi of Metal and the emotional association is sadness and grief.

Water Tiger is a breakaway from the consistence of Ox and solidity of Metal. The Tiger is the only striped animal of the zodiac and demonstrates two distinct patterns of Qi. The content Tiger and the hungry Tiger! Tiger Qi is described as lunging and lurching. Things happen quick and strong.

When Tiger Qi is charged we get a super hero, innovative, exciting, creative, enthusiastic, generous. If the Qi of Tiger is deplete, we get a restless, impulsive, indecisive, stubborn and prideful version. Water represents the origin of Yin & Yang, ending & beginning, death & birth. The emotions corresponding to the Water phase are fear and anxiety.

One way to ride the Qi of the Water Tiger is to use the creative, innovative Qi to enhance your life in the areas you want to energize. When the Qi feels deplete for you lay low and be kind. When you feel angry and frustration, consider if the root of your anger is really fear. Be careful of injury.

I am extending many blessing to you as we experience the cycles of Qi from a self-cultivating perspective,

Year of the Yin Metal OX 2021
Yin is feminine, night, measured, strength, secret, hidden and unknown, both death and birth.
The Metal element is cold, hard and born from the womb of Earth.
The Metal season Autumn, demonstrated with casting off, coming loose, and detaching.
The emotion of Metal is loss, sadness and grief.
The Metal character when energized is discriminating, exact, with integrity and morality. When depleted can be stiff, cold, with unreasonable expectations of perfection.
The Metal Spirit is PO, the Yin aspect of the Chinese spirit/body, that descends into earth after death.
The Qi of the OX is strong, patient, gentle, sincere, dependable and predictable, and provides the virtues of justice and conventionality. When the OX Qi gets depleted, they can become stubborn, dull, stale, and ridged.
This year brings an OX size quantity of loss, sadness, and grief spilling in from the Yang Metal year of 2020 to the Yin Metal year 2021. Even if we have not faced these emotions, (not sure that could be true for any of us) for me there is an overriding feeling of “A Heavy Heart”, no matter what my momentary emotions might be.
The auspices this year is three thumbs up for all five of the OXs with Fire and Water OXs shinning brightest! As the year progress we will have available a more gentle and refined Qi, giving way to a sense of reliability towards a traditional view. We may also experience this years’ Qi as stale, ridged, and a bigoted conventionality that needs to be thrown off by the unbelievable strong neck of the OX.
As you feel the quality of Qi this year, l invite you explore your personal experience of justice and calmness. Appreciate what is conventional in your life and bring it forward this year. Remember the generous, strong, sincere, and discriminating Yin energy that is available as your reserve this year. Chinese cosmology suggests that by demonstrating generosity we can resolve the ghosts of Fate and realize the possibilities of Freedom. Using these insights as tools of self-cultivation we create our Destines.
May we all look forward to being closer to each other and the Earth with love and respect.
Sending OX size support and of dear Sisters in Chinese medicine.

A story of just one of the gift of not the plant or animal world- but the ephemeral world of fungi. ♥️🙏♥️

I came across this fine Lion's Mane Mushroom (fungi) deep in the temperate rain forest yesterday. In Chinese it is Hou Tou Gu: Hericium Erinaceus: 猴头菇 and it was growing in 4 clumps on a living hardwood eucalyptus tree trunk alongside some other fungi species.
Lion's Mane Mushroom is a herb used in traditional Chinese medicine to benefit the five internal organs (heart, liver, spleen, lungs & kidneys), and tonifies and promote healthy digestion. Properties: Sweet, Neutral.
Lion's Mane is a tonic, supports digestive health, boosts the immune system, benefits brain function and mental well-being. It’s biological health benefits include its antibiotic, antioxidant, anti-diabetic, anti-fatigue, cardioprotective, anti-inflmmatory, anti-aging, hepatoprotective, nephroprotective and neuroprotective effects.
• Can be cooked as a stir fry with vegetables, tofu etc
