Emergency Medical Service Week!! Thank you for years of service and dedication.
Jessica Spotted Horse started as an EMR driver in 2014. She was a CHR in the community for many years prior to taking our very first EMT class. Jessica passed her state certification in 2015. She has worked with the service for the nine and a half years that we have been in operation. She is trained in active shooter response and incident command. Jessica was the previous squad leader for four years. She recently moved to Fargo and works at Sandford ER as an emergency room technician. She continues to work with us when she is available part time. Mandaree EMS will always be grateful for all her efforts and devotion to the community.
Josie Bingen is an RN/EMT. She started with the EMT class we taught in 2015 and she has been with the service since then. Josie is also a CPR and first aid instructor. She is an instructor for the Stop the Bleed campaign. She is the advanced life support personal. She has been an American Red Cross volunteer for the last five years. She is a blood drive coordinator and She is trained in active shooter response and incident command. Josie also has training for missing persons. Currently, Josie is continuing her education in health care. She is an asset to the service with her wide range of nursing skills and her dedication to the community of Mandaree.
Abel Feltes obtained his certification at Denver Health in 2013 prior to the service starting. His parents are Benji and Antoinette Kitagawa. He worked as an EMT for three years and went back to Denver Health in 2017 to continue his education. He received his Paramedic certification in 2018. He has been a certified EMT/EMR instructor since 2019 and is currently teaching his third EMT/EMR class. Abel is trained in active shooter response and incident command. Abel is also an advanced life support personal. He is a great asset to both White Shield and Mandaree communities.
Janine Perkins has been working as an EMT with the service since November 2017 as a first aid driver. She has an associate degree in applied science in law enforcement from Leech Lake Tribal College. She also graduated from the Professional Peace Officer Academy in Hibbing, MN. She has a background in corrections where she completed her basic Juvenile Corrections FLETC in Artesia, NM. In 2019, she received her EMR certification and shortly after received her EMT certification. She has completed a course in H2S awareness. She is trained in active shooter response and incident command. We are honored to have her on our team. She has been very dedicated and resides in West Segment.
Jonathan Roy began working the ambulance service in May of 2020. He was hired as a first aid driver. He took the EMT class through Abel in 2022 and is currently a certified EMT. Jonathan has worked for Wildland Fire for the last four years. He has been a positive person, and you can count on him to have a smile when you need one.
Jazmyn Lucio has been with the service since December of 2021 as a first aid driver. She is currently in the process of obtaining her EMT certification. She has a background as a quality medical service provider which provided home health care within the community. She has completed a course in H2S awareness. She has completed incident command training. Also, this summer Jazmyn will become a certified car seat technician. She is always willing to help when she is available, and we appreciate her.
Shantel Fettig has been with the service since May of 2022 as a first aid driver. She has a higher education background in the medical field and is also CNA certified. She took an EMT course in 2022 and will be testing for her certification within the next few months. She is trained in active shooter response. She has taken a course on H2S awareness. She is a valuable member of our staff, and we are lucky to have her.
Katarina Nyberg-Luger started the service in July 2022 as an EMT. She received her EMT certification in 2021 through Bismarck State College. She has a bachelor’s degree in biological science with a biomedical emphasis and a minor in chemistry from North Dakota State University. She has completed Stop the Bleed training. She is trained in active shooter response, and incident command training. She is a first aid and CPR instructor for the American Heart Association. She is currently our Squad Leader and deals with the hard job of managing the daily issues that come along. She is also taking classes at Minot State University to further her healthcare career. We are thankful for her guidance and management skills.
Manny Lucio started with our team as a first aid driver in July of 2023. Manny has a background in corrections where he was a corrections officer at Gerald Tex Fox Justice Center in 2018. He started working for West Segment Security in 2021 and Mandaree Volunteer Fire Department in 2021. He is certified in extrication. He is currently training for his EMT certification. This is a hard job and sometimes very stressful. We are grateful that he has decided to take this role in the community of Mandaree.
