Denise Joy is a fourth generation herbalist whose education was begun by her great-grandmother Fanny at age 8. The knowledge she gained through books and self-teaching has been augmented by studying with Auntie Margaret in Hawaii and Loren Cruden in Washington state. rbals, a company which specializes in herbal medicine. She regularly offers opportunities to local at-risk youth to learn herbal medicine. She has had over 50 apprentices and taught throughout Washington State and the Pacific Northwest.

Apprenticeship Program 2024

SEPTEMBER 18, 2024 to March 19, 2025

10am-12:30pm on Wednesdays (24 Classes)

Classes held in Port Townsend-Class size limit is 12 students

High school students attend for free (2 spaces per year), serious students only

After completing this course, you will have a basic understanding of

using herbs for your health and body's needs, and herbal remedies of

basic ailments for yourself and family members.

Hands-on projects such as making salves, creams, tinctures, soap and more.

harvesting gardens such as hawthorn berries and elecampane; and planting herbs.

Homework of 6 to 8 herbs a week followed by question-and-answer time,

and a review of each week's herbal homework.

Fee is $1,350. OR $60 per class OR $350 every 6 classes

$50 nonrefundable deposit is required at sign-up.

15th ANNUAL NW HERBAL FAIR

We are gathering the Pacific Northwest’s herbal community for education, networking, friendship, camaraderie & celebration! This event features workshops, keynote talks, herbal marketplace, circles, music & entertainment, camping, and food vendors in a family friendly event. This year the event is mixed with the Wildcrafter’s Rendezvous, which will feature presentations, plant walks and demonstrations of valuable ethnobotanical information. Since 1996, the NWHF has provided a gathering point for herbalists and herbal enthusiasts all over the Northwest!
