What an AMAZING day at Cook-Walden Cook-Walden Funeral Homes as we hosted Wreaths Across America for our sixth year. This year was the largest group ever, and we were blessed to place over 1,000 wreaths on the gravesites of some of the brave women and men who are laid to rest at our beautiful cemetery!

Yet another amazing, moving, and successful POW/MIA Recognition Ceremony at Cook-Walden Funeral Homes. We cannot be more proud about our support for all of the women and men of this great country who have chosen the honorable path of service to our country. This was the 16th year for this great event, and the 5th year it was hosted by Cook-Walden/Capital Parks. A VERY SPECIAL THANK YOU to the VFW Post 28 for coordinating this day.

Memorial Day Weekend was truly a blend of celebration, as well as humbling reminders of what Memorial Day is all about. Saturday morning bright and early we were blessed with Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, and volunteers from Amazon Warriors placing flags on the 6,000+ graves of our fallen heroes. Sunday brought a group of Marines on a nearly 2-hour bus trip to honor their fallen comrad, Nickalous Aldrich who, at that young age of 21 gave his life in Iraq 19 years ago! Then today, Memorial Day, we were blessed with song, celebration, and an important reminder of all that Memorial Day really means. Representatives from more veterans' groups than we can count were here on a single mission... honor our fallen sisters and brothers from the military. What an amazing three days!

Our Story

Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home and Cemetery is Austin's premier funeral service provider, honoring generations of memories yesterday, today and tomorrow. Located on Interstate 35 North in Pflugerville, Cook-Walden/Capital Parks offers the Austin community the convenience of two cemeteries, a funeral home and an on-site crematory. Capital Parks Cemetery boasts more than 50 acres of beautifully wooded property containing many landmark features that can only be found within our gates. Located at the heart of the park and flanked by sparkling reflection pools is a beautiful community mausoleum that offers both indoor and outdoor crypts and cremation niches and features an indoor chapel. Surrounding the reflection pools are estate areas where families may choose private entombment. Nestled near the mausoleum is the Fountain of Memories Garden that offers families interment choices in a variety of private and community burial options, all in a gated area adorned with immaculate landscaping, bubbling fountains and cascading waterfalls. Capital Parks features several gardens designed to meet the needs of many of Austin's diverse cultures and communities. There are gardens exclusively available to those of the Jewish and Islamic faiths. Texas Liberty offers a stunning courtyard feature and granite bench estates to veterans and their families. The Hartung Shrine to Children adorns the resting place of our littlest angels with a cascading waterfall and stunning statuary. In 2005, The Very Reverend Gregory Aymond, Bishop of Austin, dedicated the Garden of the Risen Christ, which offers a garden mausoleum, private hedged and gated estates and standard interment lots with upright monuments. The Hill Country Cremation Garden offers a wide variety of unique and picturesque options exclusively for cremation. Memorial Hill Cemetery, located just south of Capital Parks, offers interment and mausoleum committal options nestled on a gentle hill with large trees, fountains and beautiful memorial features. In addition, our cemetery has nearly 75 acres of undeveloped land to ensure it will be able to continue offering a place of peace and comfort to the residents of Austin and central Texas for many generations to come. Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home opened its doors on the cemetery grounds in 1997. This spacious 17,000-square-foot facility shines with the warm rustic elegance of the Texas Hill Country. The Memorial Chapel offers seating for 250, with a private family lounge and seating area. The four graciously appointed staterooms, guest lounge with an adjoining patio and fireside lounge ensure a fitting venue for any remembrance. Our more than 40-person team at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks represents the most experienced, highly trained group of professionals available in Austin. We're committed to serving every family with dedication and the highest standards of care available. Our top-of-the-line facilities and superior staff ensure Cook-Walden /Capital Parks will continue to provide the very finest in service and care to Austin for generations to come.
