Mesial, distal, lingual, oh my!

Dental "lingo" is much simpler than it sounds. Mesial, distal, lingual, facial, buccal, occlusal, and incisal are all just terms to describe where on the tooth we are talking about.

A partial is a prosthetic to replace one or more missing teeth. This prosthesis is removable by the patient and can come in a few different materials. Some partials are metal, cast resin, and some can be fully acrylic, depending on each patient's specific need.

👑 A crown is essentially a tooth shaped cap that is permanently cemented over a natural tooth or implant to restore it's shape, size, strength, and appearance.

"Why do I need a crown?"

There are several reasons you may need a crown
1. Decay is beyond the point of restoring a tooth with a filling
2. A tooth could be cracked, broken, or fractured.
3. A tooth has had a root canal.
3. Cemented onto an implant to replace a missing tooth.
