Silver Sobriety

Silver Sobriety At Silver Sobriety, we provide older adults with affordable recovery services for alcohol and drug addiction.

Please donate to support our Seniors in our community and Silver Sobriety’s outreach. Why is Silver Sobriety better for seniors than existing recovery programs? We minimize barriers by focusing on the unique needs of seniors.
• Age Specific Care: We only serve people ages 50 and older. Older adults will connect with their peers and work on issues unique to their age group. This approach increases

the likelihood of success.
• The Right Pace: Our program moves at a pace that is fitting for older adults.
• The Right Length: Research shows that longer programs lead to better outcomes. We provide a continuum of care across providers, health plans, medical professionals and counties that provides support from an acute care model to continuing care.
• Flexible: Because we are a non-clinical model, our program is not dictated by insurance companies and unnecessary medical over-regulation. This allows us to be client-centered and flexible.
• Reachable: Transportation will be provided at no cost to those within a 15 mile radius of Stillwater, MN.
• Affordable: Out of pocket costs for the Silver Sobriety program is $4,500
• Accessible: We strive to remove barriers to recovery and never turn anyone away based on ability to pay. We believe that no matter your age, you can overcome substance abuse with the right support and resources.

Did you know that older adults in recovery often experience better outcomes in age-specific, peer-supported programs? 💬👥

Research shows that when recovery spaces are designed with seniors in mind—acknowledging their life experiences, grief, isolation, and health challenges—participants are more likely to stay engaged and achieve long-term success.

That’s exactly why Silver Sobriety exists: to offer support that meets older adults where they are, with dignity, community, and purpose.

As we age, the risks associated with alcohol can quietly increase, impacting everything from balance to brain health. This New York Times piece sheds light on why older adults are especially vulnerable. At Silver Sobriety, we acknowledge these unique challenges and provide age-specific recovery support that respects the needs and strengths of older adults.

Did you know that nearly 1 in 10 older adults engage in binge drinking?

While alcohol use is common, it can become increasingly dangerous as we age. Older adults process alcohol more slowly, making them more vulnerable to its effects, even at lower amounts.

At Silver Sobriety, we’re committed to supporting older adults in finding lasting recovery, in environments that understand their unique health needs and life experiences.

💬 “It’s never too late to start again.”

At Silver Sobriety, we’re working to break the stigma that surrounds addiction in older adulthood. Too often, seniors are overlooked in recovery conversations. Many face unique challenges—grief, isolation, chronic pain—but lack access to programs that truly understand their stage in life. That’s why we created a space just for them.

With peer-based support, age-appropriate care, and non-hospital-based options not covered by traditional Medicare, we’re helping older adults reclaim their lives with dignity and connection.

You’re not alone. You’re not too old. You can recover.

Wishing everyone a safe, joyful, and reflective Fourth of July!

At Silver Sobriety, we honor the freedom to live a healthier, more connected life—at any age. Today, we celebrate independence, community, and the courage it takes to choose a new path.

Why focus on seniors? Because recovery has no age limit.

In 2016, only 2 out of 350 treatment programs in Minnesota were tailored to older adults, despite the unique challenges they face. Unlike younger populations, seniors often don’t have peer-specific spaces to heal, and Medicare coverage can be limited unless treatment is hospital-based.

At Silver Sobriety, we believe in age-appropriate support, meaningful connection, and the power of peer understanding. With the right resources, every age can find hope, healing, and lasting recovery.
