Stretching (especially dynamic stretching) activates your muscles and gets your blood flowing. This signals to your body that it's time to move, gradually increasing your heart rate and warming up your muscles. By improving flexibility and preparing your muscles, stretching can reduce the chance of strains, sprains, and other injuries that often result from tight or cold muscles. Warmed-up and stretched muscles respond better during a workout. Stretching can improve coordination, posture, and overall efficiency in your movements.
