A solid postpartum plan includes the little things that can quickly pile up.

✨ The goal is to create space for rest, recovery, and time with your baby ✨

Our team of postpartum doulas can help make that happen with calm and steady support, right when you need it.

You may be spending a lot of time planning for your birth, but have you thought about planning for after you bring your baby home?

We recommend creating a postpartum plan in the weeks before your due date. Think about things like sleep, feeding, and what kind of support you might need once baby arrives.

Returning to work after your parental leave is a big - and often emotional - day! We’ve got some tips to help it all run a bit smoother.

🕒 Start with a practice run. What time will you and your baby need to be up to get ready and out the door on time? Start this routine a few days early to give yourself some practice runs and make sure you’ve got the timing down.

🍼 Plan out the feedings ahead of time. Go ahead and figure out how often your baby will need to eat while away from you. If formula feeding, make those bottles the night before and have them ready so it’s one less thing to do in the morning.

🥛 Get your pumping plan in place. If you are pumping breastmilk, make sure that you have everything you need to do this at work. Think about your pumping schedule and reach out to work ahead of time to make sure you have access to everything you will need at the office before you return.

☕ Treat yourself! The first day back at work after leave is a big day. Go easy on yourself and give yourself plenty of grace if you are struggling with this transition. There’s no better day to treat yourself with your favorite coffee or pastry or lunch out at your favorite local spot.

You deserve all good things today!

Did you know that more and more providers are encouraging folks to have a VBAC (Vaginal Birth After Cesarean)?

The American College of OBGYNS () says that having a VBAC may mean shorter recovery times, less blood loss, and less risk of infection. Chat with your care provider to discuss if a VBAC is the right choice for you.

Did you know that many employers are now offering a doula benefit to their employees?

Check to see if you work for a company that will pay for at least a portion of the cost of having a labor or postpartum doula!

Tips for Timing Contractions 🕓︎

➜ Use a contraction timer app instead of working out the math on your own. We like the Full Term app.

➜ Start timing contractions when you have to stop what you are doing and you are breathing your way through the contractions.

➜ Time contractions for about 30 min and then put the timer away. You or your support person will notice if things change. If you notice the contractions becoming longer or closer together, start timing them again.

➜ Make sure your support team has access to the timer so they can take over tracking the contractions so you don’t have to once you are in more active labor.

We like to say that newborns are extremely cute but are terrible conversationalists. If you are feeling isolated being at home with your new baby, give us a call!

Our postpartum doulas are well-equipped to offer you emotional support. That can look like acting as a safe space for you to talk about your concerns and challenges to just talking about the latest episode of Love Island.

Do you know what GBS is? Group B Strep is a group of bacteria that is typically found in most adults at times throughout their lives. It is not dangerous for adults but it can pose a health risk for newborns.

Most pregnant women in the US are tested at 36 weeks of pregnancy to see if there is an active colony of Group B strep.

If the test is positive, antibiotics will be administered to the birthing person throughout labor to minimize the risk of exposing the baby to the colony of bacteria as they exit the birth canal. If the baby is exposed to the bacteria, the baby could become very sick and require antibiotics and a NICU stay.

Talk to your care provider about Group B Strep to learn more.
