July is Minority Mental Health Awareness Month!

This is a month that honors author and mental health activist, Bebe Moore Campbell who advocated to break the stigma of mental health struggles among Black and Brown communities.

Studies show that racial and sexual minorities face higher levels of anxiety, depression, suicidal tendencies, post traumatic stress, and other mental health struggles.

Mental health struggles are not a weakness and everyone deserves to be heard. Reach out to CHC today to be connected with a Community Health Worker that can assist you with navigating through mental health care. 💚💙

Good Trouble Lives On!
Good Trouble Day Of Action is a day to honor the late Congressman, John Lewis. It is a day to take action and protest against administrative policies that are attacks on our civil rights and cuts to social programs.

CHC stands with our immigrant communities, BIPOC communities, and LGBTQ+ communities.

The power of change lies with the people.
We hope you get into some good trouble today.

Community Health Council Works For Wyandotte County

Thanks to the tremendous work done by our staff, our board, our partners, and our community CHC has been able to achieve so much since its foundation. As part of that growth, and as we look to our future goals, we recognized that it was time to expand our mission. We will not only continue our work "to improve health and health care for the people of our community" but to further that mission, and continue to evolve. "The mission of the Community Health Council of Wyandotte County is to enhance health outcomes in Wyandotte County through informing, collaborating, aligning, mobilizing and activating organizations, government entities and community members." Over the years we have expanded our programs to include the Kansas Assisters Network, We Are Wyandotte and the H.E.A.T. Report, Community Health Worker Initiative, and Cradle KC. This work would not have been possible without our HEAT Community Action Boards and Support Teams, our neighborhood partners and associations, or without our strong network of partners and government collaborations.

We look forward to sharing our new growth and outreach plans, and working together with you, our community, and our partners, to continue enhancing health outcomes in Wyandotte County.
