Here’s why ⬇️
When something reminds your brain of an old hurt, like a tone of voice, a look, a situation…
your amygdala fires like it’s happening right now. It doesn’t care that you’re 25, 35, 45, or 55.
It only cares about survival.
Your prefrontal cortex (the rational, adult part of your brain) goes offline.
Your nervous system time-travels back to the age you were when the imprint formed.
That’s why you suddenly feel 8 years old again…
or 14…
or 22.
Not because you’re dramatic, but because your brain is literally running an old protective program.
Now the good news:
✨ Breathwork can interrupt and REWRITE this pattern.
When you breathe consciously:
• You activate the prefrontal cortex again
• You lower amygdala activation
• You increase CO₂ tolerance, which reduces panic + overwhelm
• You shift your body from fight/flight into safety + presence

This is how breathwork helps the brain uncouple the trigger from the old trauma imprint, a process called memory reconsolidation.
You stay present, regulate the physiological stress response, and the brain rewrites the emotional charge attached to the memory.
