Another USPA California State Powerlifting Championship in the books. This will be our 4th as a team, and I couldn't be more proud of how far we've come along. We got 5 out of 7 who got a medal this time. We are so proud of each and every athlete who competed and especially our newest competitors and . They definitely stepped it up and crushed their first comp. For our veterans y'all crushed it yet again. Hope y'all had some much needed recovery this weekend. Onto the next cycle of training for this next competition!

Hey everyone, Tim here, I hope you all had a great summer!  It was a busy summer for me settling down in San Diego and traveling back and forth to .

As the co-founder of Recalibrated Performance, I felt it was important for me to experience the same 'ups and downs' as our clients, so I followed the same nutrition guidance as outlined in our new Transformation program.

I was NOT consistent in the beginning of the year, but check out the drastic tranformation from the last 3 months!

Push ups are a staple in any strength training program regardless of strength level. They display functional strength patterns as well as deficiencies. Push ups hit more muscle groups than any other push movements and you can modify to fit any strength levels.
-
Above are my 12 year old basketball players putting in work with almost perfect form after 6 weeks. How many push ups can you do in a row? Comment below ⬇️

French contrast method is something we use often to increase muscle fibers with a resisted exercise then an explosive exercise to create a training effect of increasing rate of force production.
-
Why is increasing rate of force production important❓
⏹ Faster you can create a large amount of force the more explosive and agile you are on the field or court.
-
Here we are doing an ATP box squat to lateral 90° rotation broad jump
-
Benefits:
⏹ Increase sprint speed
⏹ Increase change of direction
⏹ Increase explosiveness
⏹ Increase acceleration

Sled sprints or sled runs are a favorite amongst our endurance athletes since it doesn't change their running mechanics or add any addition impact force.
-
One way we utilize the sled is to wave 3 different weights with the same interval for 3 weeks while maintaining the same distance covered week after week then repeat. You can test every 4th week or wait every 12 weeks to test your choice of distance you want to break.
-
Week 1: 3 x 10:00 @ empty sled
Week 2: 3 x 10:00 @ 10 lbs
Week 3: 3 x 10:00 @ 20 lbs
Week 4: 3 x 10:00 @ empty sled
Week 5: 3 x 10:00 @ 10 lbs
Week 6: 3 x 10:00 @ 20 lbs

The ability to change direction while sprinting is essential for the majority of athletes who participate in team and individual sports.
-
Plyometric training has been known to enhanced the change of direction performance while being closely resembling the demands of on field/court environment. While there's no right or wrong way to approach it, too little plyometrics will result in no change in performance and too much will leave you too sore or possibly overworked leading to injury.
-
Here's a list of exercises we utilize to increase COD performance:
⏹ Broad jump
⏹ Lateral jump
⏹ Loaded vertical jump (Video)
⏹ Box jump
⏹ Single leg jump
