Dr. Ron Wish, whose Hebrew name, Yitzchak, means laughter, is a warm, caring teacher, trained in both modern medical science and complementary spiritual healing. Ron is married to a gifted psychologist, father to three wonderful children, and companion to a lovely german shepherd who mothered many seeing-eye dogs before joining the Wish family.
Ron grew up in Ohio and was a very active kid and teen. At 17 years old He injured his knee skiing and over the next decade the pain got worse. He struggled to find relief, but couldn’t even get a diagnosis. This led him to do his own search for healing and set the course for the rest of his life.
He finished college, then was off to medical school. He knew there was more to healing than just western medicine was teaching so he set off for a year to travel the world and meet global healers of many traditions. This was a life changing journey and eventually led him to a practitioner in London who practiced CranioSacral Therapy on him. It was like nothing he had ever experienced before, a deep sense of relaxation and expansion, it was glorious.
He returned home, a bit confused about his path, but determined to finished medical school and keep expanding his natural healing skills. During his second year of residency he heard there was a CranioSacral Training, taught by an Osteopath named Dr. John Upledger. When Dr. Upledger asked his students to relax their critical minds and focus on the intuition, Ron was stunned. It was the opposite of all of his formal medical training, and a great relief. Just days after the training he began practicing on some fellow physicians. Eventually he tried it on some patients and had incredible results.
Ron finished his medical residency, passed his exams and said goodbye to his western medicine training. In 1986 he opened his private healing practice. He continued training in more advanced techniques with Dr. Upledger as well as other healers including Barbara Brennan.
In 1997 Dr. Wish decided to begin training others in his beloved work. He founded the Great River CranioSacral Therapy Institute and for the last 25 years he has passed on his skills and wisdom to hundreds of students
