Our subconscious mind is programmed to avoid pain and seek pleasure. This program is triggered every time we receive certain signals. As a result, we often do things that aren't in our best interest because we're afraid to make a change. That inner voice whispers, 'Stay in your comfort zone, it's scary to leave.' Or, 'Remember how a drink or a bag of cookies made you feel better last time you were sad?' These coping mechanisms are encoded in us, but they can be rewired to help us find true joy. This is human nature, and awareness is the first step to change and living a joyful life.
