The Janni and Mitchell Favus Reading and Literacy Endowment will create a lasting impact for years to come thanks to an enduring gift from Holly and Mark Houska. The endowment supports Reach Out & Read®, putting books into the hands of young patients at every well child visit. Since 2015, more than 32,000 books have been shared, sparking a lifelong love of reading. We were honored to celebrate this gift and look forward to inspiring future generations!

Big impacts start with generous hearts. In November 2025, the Women’s Legacy Circle awarded nearly $3,300 to bring new multisensory learning technology to Carle Auditory Oral School. These enhancements are helping children with hearing loss practice speech, language and listening skills in engaging ways - making every interaction more dynamic and meaningful. Thanks to a generous grant from the Carrie Winter Trust, we’re launching the Reach Out and Read® program in the Olney area – bringing the joy of books directly into the hands of our youngest patients. This initiative gives pediatricians at Carle Olney, Carle Bridgeport and Carle West Salem the resources to provide every child with an age-appropriate book at each well child visit through age 5. We can’t wait to share the power of stories, spark curiosity and help build a lifelong love of learning for children across our community.

Carle Health is thrilled to be a Spirit Halloween partner! And there’s truly nothing scary about it – because this partnership helps our Child Life teams bring comfort, calm and even a little joy to young patients during stressful health‑related moments. Thanks to support from local Spirit Halloween stores, our Greater Peoria hospitals and Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana received more than $79,000 to elevate this essential program. These funds help advance the expertise of our Child Life specialists, provide educational materials for patients and families, and supply the tools kids need to cope with tough medical experiences. We’re so grateful for this incredible community support.

Kala is deeply connected to the Greater Peoria community and is grateful for the opportunity to work alongside donors as they bring their philanthropic passions to life. She finds great joy in helping individuals support causes that are personal and meaningful to them, partnering together to create lasting impact through their purposeful generosity. After 15 years of dedicated service to Carle BroMenn Medical Center, Carle Eureka Hospital and the communities of central Illinois, Colleen Kannaday will retire from Carle Health on February 13. To honor her leadership and impact, the Colleen Kannaday Endowment for Quality, Safety and Excellence has been established – supporting continuing education, program innovation, technology and process improvement for years to come. The Service League at Carle Health Pekin Hospital generously contributed $61,000 to support the Young Minds Center in West Peoria. This incredible gift was made possible through sales from the hospital gift shop, Nearly Nu Resale Shop and the annual holiday show. We’re so grateful to those who supported the Theresa Tracy Strive to Survive fundraiser and honored Theresa by assisting others in their cancer journey. The Theresa Tracy Trot donated $40,044 to enhance the care Carle Health provides to patients with pancreatic cancer in the Greater Peoria area and advance pancreatic cancer research at Stephens Family Clinical Research Institute in Urbana.
