Last Friday, we rolled out the red carpet again for our Movie Buffs Club with "Hocus Pocus" for Halloween. The Witches' Brewhouse was poppin' with ghosts and fireballs, different potions with werewolves venom being the favorite, shirley vampire temple, or ginger moon were made in the cauldron. There was howling and laughter, but it was a spooktacular gathering with one another. We can't wait for our next Movie Buffs Club!

Yesterday, we baked Pan De Mu***os for Day of the Dead! Our hands were too busy prepping the bread for any prepping pictures, but we enjoyed prepping something new and learning something new about this special day. This is an orange-flavored bread typically placed on the “ofrenda” or altar. It is believed that on Day of the Dead, loved ones who have passed are able to return home to be with their families for the day. They take offerings like pan de mu***os from the ofrenda for their journey back to the land of the dead.

Last Thursday, we were fired up with another Chili Cook-Off, and it was a big hit. Some of our department heads and associates made their chili recipes with different flavors and taste. We tasted each chili and voted for the best. It was close, but the winners were: 1st Place - Bry, lead receptionist, 2nd Place - Shelly, Clare Bridge Nurse and 3rd Place - Christie, Health & Wellness Director. Congratulations you all!

We painted our very own Autumn/Halloween masterpieces during Creativity Club last Wednesday. We were inspired by different pictures, but also by encouraging words from Linda. She shared with us that she was a decorative painter. Thank you, Linda, for sharing your passion and connecting with all of us in creativity. The best part of creativity is the friendship connections that bring us together in creating something special.

Brookdale Urbana has a great amount of experience and knowledge when it comes to dementia. Come join our Clare Bridge Program Director, Gail, as we come together for our monthly Embrace Family Partnership Program. This support group is free and open to anyone who is looking for education and support! It is the last Tuesday of every month from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. in our theater room. We will be in person and virtual.

Our address is Brookdale Urbana, 1706 E Amber Lane, Urbana, IL 61820. For virtual information or any questions, please call 217-328-3150. We hope to see you Tuesday, November 25th from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.!

Are you ready to make a difference in someone's life? We are looking for volunteers of all ages, including groups, entertainment, school and church organizations, etc. to help with small and large group activities. We're also looking for them to spend quality one-on-one time with our Assisted Living and Clare Bridge residents. Some examples of engagements we'd love for you to join us for include: socials, musical entertainment, trivia, bingo, playing cards, and many more.
