Respiratory season – where is it bad?
Well, in my previous post, I referenced a recent story about our local activity here at Carle in Urbana. A similar story was posted from just south of here, focused on Sarah Bush Lincoln in the Mattoon / Charleston area. You can see the weekly influenza activity map on this post as well as a snip from our local respiratory swab data here at Carle (current as of Feb 7). See the link to one more of my respiratory virus videos where I talk about the spread in the first comment, and then a second video I made about how Respiratory Illnesses are usually evaluated when folks show up seeking care. If any of this brings up questions, don’t be bashful! More to come!

Respiratory Season – what’s new?
Some local folks may have noticed recent posts about an influx of respiratory cases being seen at Carle in Urbana. In healthcare, we are a superstitious bunch, and approach things like this with varying levels of dread. We are always concerned that this is “just the beginning” of the surge we constantly fear. Check out the first comment for one of those videos I posted before about Bronchiolitis, and watch for more updates soon!

Carle Foundation Hospital and the Emergency Department are experiencing record census as respiratory and virus activity peaks across our region.

Over the past year, we have expanded the Emergency Department in two phases and increased access through urgent care, same-day appointments and virtual visits. Even so, demand remains high and choosing the right place for care can help ensure timely access for everyone.

We are asking the community to partner with us by utilizing available resources to find the care option that best fits each individual's needs. If you or your family need care, please visit carle.org/GetCare

Remember: It’s Respiratory Season!
If a baby does not belong to you, do not attempt to touch, kiss, or hold them. In response to recent spikes, I’m going to Re-Post some videos I did back in 2022 in response to a nasty Respiratory Season. (see the first comment for a link to the first one) The content is still relevant with few exceptions, and will contain information about RSV & Bronchiolitis. Rest assured, Coco & I are still working on NEW content. I’m just trying to strike while the iron is HOT. Enjoy!

This is the first in a series of shorts about RSV and Bronchiolitis. We are currently experiencing a surge of Pediatric Respiratory illness, and this is imp...

OK, friends!
We are not starting off the way I wanted, but I don't wanna make you wait longer. Today, I'm posting a video with terms that are commonly misunderstood. The goal is to get everyone "reading off the same sheet of music" so to speak. I'll keep plugging away over here. Coco will continue eating treats and being judgy. I will catch you soon, you animals!

OK, so Coco can sometimes be brutal with her honesty. She tells me that I am NOT quite... how did she word it?
OH, "not camera-ready"

I have worked on some content already, but we may start with more AUDIO and transition to VIDEO soon. Once we get the party started, i wanna hear how it feels to y'all, please.

See you soon!
