Our Westside Conservative Club speaker for Wednesday, November 12 will be Assistant Majority Leader of the Iowa House of Representatives Jon Dunwell. He will be discussing his recent visit to Israel and Gaza.
Jon represents Newton and most of Jasper County. He was first elected in a special election in 2021. He was the first Republican to win the seat in over fifty years.
Jon is a financial representative and also pastor at Gateway Church in Monroe.
He attended Bethany Global University in Bloomington, Minnesota and Crown College in Minneapolis.
Jon and his wife Christine have two sons and live in Newton.

Our Westside Conservative Club speaker for Wednesday, October 22 will be Jim Carlin, candidate for the United States Senate seat being vacated by Senator Joni Ernst.
Jim is a constitutional conservative who has fought for Iowa values both in the courtroom and at the Capitol.
He served in the Iowa Senate from 2017 to 2023 when he represented portions of Woodbury and Plymouth counties. Carlin served on the Ways and Means, Education and Human Resources Committees and Chaired the Veterans Affairs Committee. He was Vice Chair of the Ethics Committee and Justice System Appropriations Sub Committee.
Prior to serving in the Iowa Senate Jim served one term in the Iowa House of Representatives.
He is a veteran of the United States Army.
Carlin earned his bachelors degree in Economics from the University of Massachusetts Amherst and his law degree from Marquette University.
Jim and his wife Donna have three children and reside in Sioux City.

Our Westside Conservative Club speaker for Wednesday, October 8 will be Iowa County Supervisor and candidate for Iowa State Auditor Abigail Maas. Abigail currently serves as Vice Chair of the Iowa County Board of Supervisors. A self-described fiscal conservative, she is passionate about increasing oversight of our property tax dollars.
Maas owns Garcia Carpet and Two Hills Equine Boarding Services. She and her husband Jared are sixth generation Iowa farmers. They live on the family farm near South Amana with their children, Derek and Cora.

Our Westside Conservative Club speaker for Wednesday, September 24 will be Iowa Lt . Governor Chris Cournoyer who is also a 2026 candidate for Iowa State Auditor. Governor Reynolds appointed Lt. Governor Cournoyer last December.
Prior to her appointment the Lt. Governor served in the Iowa Senate. She won a previously Democrat seat representing Clinton county and a portion of Scott county. She was re-elected in a similar district that also represented a portion of Jackson county.
In the Senate Cournoyer served as an Assistant Majority Leader. She also chaired the Technology Committee and was Vice-Chair of the State Government Committee and the Education Appropriations Subcommittee. She also was on the Legislative Council, the Governor’s STEM Advisory Committee and the Area Education Agency Task Force, as well as the Education, Natural Resources, Transportation and Ways and Means Committees.
Previous to her state government responsibilities she was President of the Pleasant Valley Community School District. She is a volunteer basketball, baseball and soccer coach and a former Reserve Deputy in the Scott County Sheriff’s Department.
Lt. Governor Cournoyer is a website designer and developer who earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Computer Science from the University of Texas Austin.

Our speaker for Wednesday, September 10 will be Chris Clem. He is returning to the Westside Conservative Club to update us on border security. Chris is a retired Chief Patrol Agent for the Border Patrol who supervised multiple locations and served on the frontlines of the border crisis in both Yuma, Arizona and El Paso, Texas.
Clem reentered the Senior Executive Service as a Senior Advisor to Secretary of Health and Human Services Robert Kennedy where he worked with refugee resettlement during the critical first 100 days of the Trump administration. His role involved directing operations related to immigration as it pertains to HHS, specifically, unaccompanied minors and refugees.
Chris currently serves as an advisor on Border Security for Americans for Prosperity.
He also recently completed a role in his first film.

Our speaker for Wednesday, September 24 will be Iowa Lt. Governor Chris Cournoyer, who recently announced her candidacy for Iowa Auditor.
