at the Machine Shed in Urbandale. Door open 6:30. No charge to attend. Order from regular breakfast menu.

Our Westside Conservative Club speaker for Wednesday, April 22 will be Iowa’s Republican National Committeeman Steve Scheffler. Steve is also President of the Iowa Faith and Freedom Coalition. He will give us an update on the Republican National Committee’s current activities and also discuss the upcoming 26th Annual Iowa Faith and Freedom Dinner.
Steve was first elected to represent Iowa on the Republican National Committee in 2008 and he also serves on the Board of Directors for the National Faith and Freedom Coalition.
Steve Scheffler has been a leader in the successful efforts to keep the Iowa Caucuses “First in the Nation”. He serves on numerous Republican National Committee committees and has served on important in national GOP Convention Committees including the Rules, Credentials, Permanent Organization and Platform Committees.
The Iowa Faith and Freedom Coalition is a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization whose purpose is to advocate and influence voters and public officials to keep their commitments to both liberty and law that America will remain one nation under God.
Steve and his wife reside in West Des Moines.

Our Westside Conservative Club speaker for Wednesday, April 8 will be Iowa Congressman and candidate for Governor Randy Feenstra. He is serving his third term in Washington and is a member of the Agriculture and Ways & Means Committees. The Congressman represents Iowa’s Fourth Congressional District which includes most of the western third of our state and is considered Iowa’s most conservative Congressional district.
Feenstra is a strong voice for Iowans and a committed advocate for the unborn, fiscal responsibility, border security, Iowa family farmers, livestock producers and its biofuels industry.
Prior to serving in Congress he served in the Iowa Senate from 2009 to 2021 where he authored the largest tax cut legislation in state history. He was Sioux County Treasurer from 2006 to 2008.
Congressman Feenstra graduated from Dordt University with a BA degree in Business Communications. He earned his Master’s degree in Public Administration from Iowa State University and completed his PHD from Northcentral University in Business and Healthcare Administration.
Randy and his wife Lynette live in Hull with their four children.

Our Westside Conservative Club speaker for Wednesday, March 25 will be Iowa farmer and businessman Zach Lahn, who is seeking the Republican gubernatorial nomination. Among his campaign priorities are less farm regulation, making Iowans healthier, restoring our education system and keeping Iowa’s farms owned by Iowans. Lahn opposes the use of eminent domain for carbon pipelines and supports stronger borders. Before returning to Iowa Zach was the Montana state director for Americans for Prosperity and was a co-founder of a private K-12 school at Wichita State University.

Zach, his wife Annie and their seven children live on their family farm near Belle Plaine in eastern Iowa. The couple operates Homeplace Ventures, an Iowa based firm that invests in agriculture, real estate and rural revitalization projects.

The speaker for our Wednesday, April 8 meeting will be Randy Feenstra, who represents Iowa’s fourth Congressional district and is also a candidate for Iowa Governor.

Our Westside Conservative Club speaker for Wednesday, March 11 will be Iowa Congresswoman Ashley Hinson, who is currently a candidate for the United States Senate. Hinson is serving her third term in Congress representing most of northeastern Iowa. She serves on the Appropriations Committee where she is on the Agriculture, Finance and Homeland Security subcommittees. She also is a member of the Select Committee on the Chinese Communist Party.
She is a proven winner, defeating incumbent Democrat Abby Finkenauer to win her first term in Congress by over 10,000 votes with 51% of the vote. She was re-elected in 2022 with 54% and won her third term with 57%.
Prior to serving in Congress Hinson served two terms in the Iowa House of Representatives. She won her first election with 62% of the vote in a district in which Hillary Clinton defeated Donald Trump.
Ashley Hinson and Mariannette Miller Meeks are the first Republican women to represent Iowa in Congress.
Congresswoman Hinson began her professional career as a news broadcaster for KCRG TV in Cedar Rapids where she anchored the morning and midday news.
She is a graduate of West Des Moines Valley High School.
She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Broadcast Journalism from the University of Southern California.
Ashley and her husband Matthew Arenholz reside in Marion with their two sons.

Our speaker for Wednesday, March 25 will be Zach Lahn, who is seeking the Republican nomination for Iowa Governor.

Our Westside Conservative Club speaker for Wednesday, February 25 will be Iowa Senate President Amy Sinclair. Senator Sinclair was first elected to the Senate in 2012. Prior to becoming Senate President, she served as the Assistant Majority Leader and then the Republican Whip. She currently represents Adair, Clarke, Decatur, Lucas, Madison and Wayne counties and portions of Dallas, Appanoose and Union counties.
In 2024 she served briefly as Acting Iowa Lt. Governor.
Prior to her Senate election, the Senator was elected to two terms on the Wayne County Board of Supervisors.
She resides in Allerton and has worked, lived and raised her three sons in Wayne County for over thirty years.
