You may start hearing a new name for PCOS: PMOS, which stands for Polyendocrine Metabolic Ovarian Syndrome.

A new global consensus study found that the name “polycystic o***y syndrome” can be misleading because PCOS is not actually caused by ovarian cysts. It is a complex condition that can affect hormones, metabolism, menstrual cycles, fertility, skin, hair growth, mental health, and long-term health risks.

The new name, PMOS, is meant to better reflect what the condition really involves: multiple hormone systems, metabolic health, and ovarian function.
This change will not happen overnight. Researchers and health organizations are planning a gradual transition over the next few years so patients, providers, researchers, and health systems can adjust. Ask our pharmacist for more information or if you think you may be experiencing PMOS.

Every child is different, and their medications can be too.

Understanding Hormone Imbalance

Hormones are powerful chemical messengers that help regulate many of the body’s essential functions, from metabolism and sleep to mood and reproduction.

Even small changes in hormone levels can have a noticeable impact on how you feel day to day.

The endocrine system plays a key role in balancing functions like:
- Energy and metabolism
- Blood sugar and blood pressure
- Sleep-wake cycles
- Mood and overall well-being

When that balance shifts, it may lead to symptoms that shouldn’t be ignored.

In some cases, compounded medications may be considered to better align with individual needs.

If you’ve noticed changes in how you feel, it may be worth discussing your symptoms with a healthcare provider to determine if your hormones are out of balance.

A More Targeted Approach to Pain Relief

Pain management isn’t one-size-fits-all. For some patients, custom pain creams offer a more personalized option.

These compounded topical treatments are applied directly to the area of discomfort and may include a combination of:
- Anti-inflammatory medications
- Local anesthetics
- Nerve pain medications
- Muscle relaxants

Why consider this approach?
- Targeted relief at the source
- Reduced systemic exposure compared to some oral medications
- Customized to individual needs
- An alternative for those who can’t tolerate oral meds

If you’re exploring pain management options, talk with your provider about what may be appropriate for you

A Personalized Approach to Anti-Aging Skincare

As skin ages, changes like fine lines, wrinkles, and loss of elasticity are common, but how you support your skin can be just as important as the products you use.

Custom formulations have the goal to
- Help support collagen production to help reduce the appearance of fine lines,
- Help hydrate and plump the skin for improved texture and elasticity,
- Assist in skin repair and renewal, supporting smoother-looking skin

Formulations can be tailored to your unique skin type, sensitivity level, and specific areas of concern. If you’re exploring options for your skincare routine, our pharmacist can discuss options with you and your provider.

Understanding Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA)

Rheumatoid arthritis isn’t just joint pain; it’s a chronic autoimmune condition where the body’s immune system mistakenly attacks its own tissues.

Over time, this can lead to inflammation, swelling, and even joint damage if not properly managed.

Common symptoms may include:
- Tender, warm, or swollen joints
- Morning stiffness or stiffness after inactivity
- Fatigue, fever, or loss of appetite
- Symptoms that often affect both sides of the body

Because symptoms can come and go in cycles (known as flares and remission), managing RA often requires a long-term, personalized approach. If you’re experiencing ongoing joint pain or changes in your health, ask our pharmacist how we may be able to help.
