Another great IPA Goes Local! ✅

IPA staff visited members on the way to last night’s event in Mason City. IPA caught up with Wendy Kinne, PharmD, and P4 students Autumn Smith and Megan Seiler at Medical Associates Pharmacy & Clinic Pharmacy. Additionally, Boone County Hospital’s Director of Pharmacy, Sondra Donald, PharmD, showed us their new InstyMeds dispenser.

Enjoyed stopping at Tipton Pharmacy to hear directly from local pharmacist Todd Miller. We discussed my work on Pharmacy Benefit Manager (PBM) reform and the ongoing insurance reimbursement issues putting small, rural independent pharmacies at risk.

In Congress, I’m fighting to increase transparency, hold PBMs accountable, and lower prescription drug costs for ALL Iowans.

Member Spotlight 🌟 Taylor Naberhaus, PharmD, BCGP

🎓 Taylor earned her PharmD at Drake University College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences and completed a PGY1 Pharmacy Practice Residency at Banner Health and PGY2 Geriatric Pharmacy Residency at Midwestern University.

🥼 Taylor is a Clinical Ambulatory Care Pharmacist at Broadlawns Medical Center. She works with patients at the primary care clinic and helps them manage their diabetes, blood pressure, cholesterol, medications, and other conditions.

💡 When Taylor returned to Iowa after residency, she was eager to get involved! Taylor serves on IPA’s Advisory Committee on Innovation and Growth and attended the 2025 Decker-Temple Leadership Pharmacy Conference. Connecting with other pharmacists helped her recenter, refocus, and gain new perspectives, she said.

💙 Taylor encourages others to join IPA to build strong connections, help move the profession forward, and give back to the profession.

In addition to celebrating achievements, IPA members were active during ! Iowa’s three delegates supported the policy development process.

Steve Firman, RPh, was recognized for his 20 years of service to the American Pharmacists Association’s Political Action Committee’s Board of Governors, serving 12 years as Chair.

Additionally, multiple IPA members presented sessions or posters at the meeting.

📸 Dalton Fabian, PharmD, RPh, presented on AI tools to enhance patient care, improve medication safety, and streamline operations. Laura Knockel, PharmD, BCACP, presented a vaccine administration skill refresher followed by hands-on practice.
