The Mind & Spirit Counseling Center, formerly know as Des Moines Pastoral Counseling Center, offers a counseling environment where individuals, couples, and families can bring their concerns about life and relationships. Our wide range of providers help people find solutions for current life problems, understand past issues, and build a hopeful future. The Center also provides consultations and educational services to professionals, businesses, and congregations. The Mind & Spirit Counseling Center is a resource for the emotional, spiritual, and relationship health of those we serve. Amy is a multidisciplinary artist and Death Doula whose work is grounded in helping individuals and communities navigate life, loss, and transformation. Drawing on her experience supporting others through end-of-life journeys, she brings a thoughtful and human-centered perspective that encourages reflection on how we live, lead, and care for one another.

Her voice aligns powerfully with this year’s theme—exploring loss and the role of creativity, connection, and compassion in shaping what comes next.

Women Helping Women is the Center’s annual luncheon supporting counseling, education, training, and essential services for women, children, and families who are uninsured, underinsured, or from low-income households. This inspiring event uplifts our community while raising critical funds to ensure mental health care remains accessible to all who need it.

This year, we explore the many ways we experience loss—and how creativity, connection, and compassion can help us heal and reimagine what comes next.

Suzanna de Baca is a seasoned CEO and board leader who has spent her career building purpose-driven organizations and advancing human-centered leadership, health equity, and well-being.
