Paint-n-Sip Fun at Bickford of Urbandale!

We had the absolute pleasure of welcoming local K–5 art teacher and talented artist Kayla Edwards for a special Paint-n-Sip celebration! With Kayla’s wonderful guidance, we all tried our hand at painting cheerful sunflowers—and the results were absolutely beautiful.

Even those who said, “I can’t paint!” gave it a try, and we’re so glad they did—the creativity was incredible!

A heartfelt thank you to Kayla for sharing her time, talent, and kind encouragement with us. Our sunflowers are now brightening up apartments and bringing smiles all around!

This morning, our friend Carl took charge reading the newspaper, and not only did he keep us all informed, but the lively discussions that followed covered just about everything under the sun! I joked that Carl gets more participation on the paper than I do! It’s always heartwarming to see how engaged and supportive our community is. There’s never a shortage of friendly conversations and helping hands here.

This afternoon, we kept the fun going with our Birthday Bash, followed by our always-popular Happy Hour.

Every Wednesday and Friday at 2:00 PM, our Bingo Director gathers the community for a fun-filled game. But today was different — and deeply moving.

After over a year of gentle guidance and consistent routine, something beautiful happened:
✨ The residents led the entire process themselves.
They picked up their Bingo cards, set up their spaces, played joyfully, and returned everything afterward — all without a prompt.

This is the Montessori lifestyle in motion: fostering independence, dignity, and purpose at every age.
Today, I didn’t lead — I simply watched, and I was moved to tears. 🧡
