ISO HOLIDAY MEASL: Is your workplace or company looking for a way to give this holiday season? Abraham House locations are looking for businesses that would like to provide full holiday meals for our homes. We need: Christmas Eve Utica (8-10ppl), Christmas Day Utica (8-10ppl), Christmas Eve Rome (18-25 ppl) and Christmas Day Rome (18-25ppl). Possibilities Don’t End — They Evolve.

At Abraham House, every day is a reminder that even at the end of life, there is still room for possibility — for laughter, for comfort, for love.

This year, possibilities meant:
🕯️An elderly couple with 11 children who filled the home with laughter and stories.
🎨 A 95-year-old artist who won the World Fantasy Award for Life Achievement.
🏒 An 89-year-old hockey legend visited by old teammates.
🍝 A 92-year-old Italian mom known for her hospitality and Sunday gatherings.

These moments aren’t about endings — they’re about completion. They are proof that compassion creates connection, and connection creates peace.

As we close 2025, we’re filled with gratitude for the families, volunteers, and donors who make these moments possible. Because of you, our guests don’t just find care — they find home. ❤️

🌟 Meet Our Board: Jennifer A. Kerr 🌟

Jennifer is a Senior Tax Manager at Calogero & Associates, LLC and proud mom to her son, Dylan, who is pursuing his master’s degree in Evolution, Ecology & Behavior at the University at Buffalo. In 2024, Jennifer completed her first Boilermaker 15K through the Charity Bib program—raising funds and awareness for Abraham House along the way.

Jennifer brings her financial and accounting expertise to the board, along with a deep commitment to our mission. She’s excited to help shape the future of Abraham House, including our bold Possibility Statement of owning and operating 10 homes by 2035.

Her connection to our work is personal. Jennifer experienced the compassion of Abraham House firsthand when her Aunt Barb spent her final weeks in our Utica home. She also cared for her grandmother through her final years, which strengthened her belief in the dignity and comfort Abraham House provides.

Active and adventurous, Jennifer enjoys golf, pickleball, kayaking, hiking, running, and cheering on her favorite football teams. Fun fact: she was a flight attendant during 9/11—an experience that shaped her resilience and perspective on life.

Local Karate Students Raised Over $3,200 for Abraham House!

We are so grateful for the incredible young students of David Bruce’s American Martial Arts, who participated in the annual Karate-Thon on November 22. These amazing kids each completed 625 kicks — totaling 10,200 kicks altogether! — to raise funds for local charities.

Their hard work, dedication, and big hearts helped raise $7,317 in pledges, with $3,283.50 donated directly to Abraham House. 💛

We are truly inspired by these young leaders who showed what community, compassion, and perseverance look like.

Thank you to Shihan Tabitha Cieniewicz, Kyoshi David Bruce, the entire dojo family, and all who pledged in support.

Your kicks are making a real impact. 💛🥋

🌟 Meet Our Board: Erica Flynn 🌟

Erica is a proud Upstate New Yorker and Talent Acquisition Operations Manager at CONMED, where she blends strategy, people, and process to make meaningful impact. Outside of work, Erica loves traveling, staying active, and spending time with her family.

Erica hopes to help spread awareness about the compassionate care Abraham House provides—especially to families who may not know this support exists right here in our community.

Serving on the board allows Erica to use her skills to give back and support a mission that brings comfort during some of life’s hardest moments.

She’s a proud wife and mom to her two little adventurers, Luca (5) and Vienna (3). Fun fact: Erica lived in Las Vegas for almost five years, and her son was born there before her family returned home to Upstate NY.

We just had to share this sweet photo of Shirley and her husband, Calvin, standing in front of one of our beautifully decorated trees in the Rome sunroom.

The way they look at each other, the light coming in, the calm of the room… it’s truly a heartwarming moment.

These quiet, meaningful moments are what make our houses feel like home, especially during the holiday season. 💛
