3 Key Tips for PT Students to Kickstart Networking πΌπ
The best time to start networking was... 10 years ago!
The second best time is, right now.
As a Physical Therapy student, networking can feel intimidating, but it's absolutely essential to your growth in the profession.
Here are the first 3 things I would do if I were a PT student right now.
1οΈβ£ Create a LinkedIn Account:
Your LinkedIn profile is your professional brand. Make sure it reflects who you are and what you want to achieve in physical therapy.
Can you network on other platforms? Yep
But LinkedIn is DESIGNED for this, it's were professionals go to talk professionally.
It's a tool, treat it as such and you can get great results.
2οΈβ£ Connect with Purposeful Conversations:
Don't just send random messages to people you see on Linkedin.
When you reach out, do it with intention!
If someoneβs work resonates with you, ask them a real question.
For example:
"I found your talk on [topic] insightful. Could you suggest more resources for me to explore this?"
"If you were a PT student today, what would be the first steps youβd take to improve in [XYZ]?"
Remember, itβs not about making them do heavy lifting for you.
Keep it short and focused on mutual growth.
3οΈβ£ Start Sharing Your Thoughts (And Listen Too!):
Begin posting your insights and leaving room for discussion.
Who knew these apps were actually designed for... being social?
π Sharing ideas sparks connections and helps you grow as a thought leader.
