One month from today, our community will come together for an important conversation about the future of opioid settlement funding and how it can create lasting change in Rome and surrounding communities.

Please join us for our 💜 Community Town Hall: Opioid Settlement Dollars: From Allocation to Action 💜 on June 9 from 5–8 PM at the CFLR Rome Atrium (205 West Dominick Street).

This event will bring together residents, advocates, local organizations, and leaders to discuss how these funds can support housing, education, mental health, public safety, recovery services, and economic development.

✨ Special Guest Host: Christopher Assini

May is Mental Health Awareness Month - a reminder that your emotions are not meant to be ignored or pushed down. 💚

Feeling sad, anxious, angry, or overwhelmed does not mean something is wrong with you. It means something is asking to be acknowledged. Emotions are information, not weaknesses! 💜

When we allow ourselves to feel, we give those emotions space to move instead of building pressure inside. That is where healing starts... not in avoidance, but in awareness. 💚

You do not have to carry it alone. Talking to someone you trust or reaching out for support can make the weight easier to hold. Remember, when there's help, there's hope. Let yourself feel and let yourself be human. 💜

Wait, 5/5 is already over? Can we normalize tacos, churros, and queso being part of the weekly wellness plan then? Asking for a friend... 😆

A huge thank you to our Social Wellness Committee (SWC) for bringing our staff together last week for a Cinco De Mayo potluck lunch! 🌮🪅 Colleen and Sania, you remind us that connection, laughter, and good food go a long way.

Heather and Natasha also proudly represented SWC by supporting the Mohawk Valley Latino Association, assisting with their event setup. Community is everything! 🤝🏻

This week is National Prevention Week, a time to recognize the importance of supporting mental health and preventing substance use in our communities.

Prevention doesn’t always look big or obvious. Sometimes it’s a conversation, a resource, or simply showing up for someone who needs support.

We’re grateful for our Prevention Team and the work they do every day to educate, connect, and make a difference across our community.

Stress has a way of building up quietly.

One small habit that can make a difference is taking short breaks throughout the day to reset. That might look like going for a quick walk, stepping away from your phone, or simply taking a few slow, intentional breaths.

It doesn’t have to be anything complicated. The goal is just to give your mind a moment to slow down.
Mental wellness isn’t about doing everything perfectly. It’s about finding small ways to support yourself along the way.

Spring is a season of renewal 🌼

But growth doesn’t always feel easy.

If things feel heavy right now, you’re not doing it wrong. You’re just human.

Give yourself grace.

May is Mental Health Awareness Month, and sometimes the most important reminder is a simple one:

You don’t have to carry everything on your own.

If you’ve been feeling overwhelmed, stressed, or just not like yourself lately, it’s okay to pause and check in with yourself. Even small things (like stepping outside for a few minutes, taking a few deep breaths, or reaching out to someone you trust) can help create a little space.

And if you need more support, it’s there.

💃Happy International Dance Day! 🎶

Not every day feels easy, and sometimes the best thing you can do is just move your body a little.

Put on a song you love. Dance in your kitchen. Take a minute to shake off the stress.

Movement doesn’t have to be perfect or planned to make a difference. It can be a small reset, a mood shift, or just a moment to breathe.

Today’s a good reminder that even simple things (like music and movement) can support our mental wellness.

What’s a song that always gets you moving?

This past weekend, our community came together for our Spring Take Back Day and the impact was real! Thanks to your participation, we collected 14 boxes and over 100 pounds of unused and expired medications, helping keep these substances out of our homes and neighborhoods. 📦☑️

This effort is only made possible through strong collaboration. CFLR is grateful to the Oneida County Sheriff’s Office, Utica Police Department, and the Oneida County Opioid Task Force for helping make this event safe, accessible, and effective. 🤝🏻

Initiatives like this play a critical role in preventing misuse, reducing environmental harm, and protecting the health and safety of our community. Thank you again to everyone who spread the word, showed up, and took action.

Small steps like cleaning out a medicine cabinet make a BIG difference! 💚
