Why Heart Disease Starts Long Before Symptoms ⬇️

Heart disease remains the leading cause of death, but it develops over the years through changes at the molecular level. At MMRI, our scientists are studying how genetics, inflammation, and metabolism interact to drive conditions like heart failure, arrhythmias, and atherosclerosis.

These diseases don’t happen overnight—they begin with early disruptions in how heart cells grow, communicate, and respond to stress.

By understanding these early changes, we can move closer to earlier detection, better treatments, and prevention. Support us ➡️ https://bit.ly/424n5ab

Lupus Awareness Month starts today, and there's never been a more important time to understand this disease. 💜 👟 https://bit.ly/lupuswalk26

Lupus is a chronic autoimmune condition in which the immune system attacks the body's own healthy tissues, causing inflammation and damage to the joints, skin, kidneys, heart, lungs, and brain. According to the National Institute of Arthritis and Musculoskeletal and Skin Diseases (NIAMS), part of the National Institutes of Health, women develop lupus about nine times more often than men, most commonly between the ages of 15 and 45, and there is still no cure.

At MMRI, our scientists are working to change that by investigating the biological mechanisms behind autoimmune disease and identifying new avenues for treatment.

This May, you can help drive that research forward:

As Autism Acceptance Month comes to a close, we’re taking a moment to reflect, not just on awareness, but on acceptance, inclusion, and understanding. 💙

Autism is a part of human diversity, and at MMRI, we’re proud to advance research that deepens our understanding of autism, from the biology of neurodevelopment to the pathways that support better outcomes and quality of life for individuals and families.
