Meet Chrystal Furno, a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) at UMass Memorial Medical Center.

"I started my career off as a dietary aide and I noticed a need for compassionate caregivers. I became a Certified Nursing Assistant, and after a few years realized I could do more to help as a caregiver and became a nurse. I enjoy working with patients and have a passion for helping people.

My favorite part of my job is interacting with all the patients/caregivers throughout the day. I feel that I can make a positive impact with patients when they are going through a difficult time.

My favorite moment of my career so far is a tie between the day that I graduated nursing school with my family by my side and the day I was hired by UMass Memorial/TriRiver which was a place I’ve wanted to work for many years after seeing the care that my children received by their pediatrician.

UMass Memorial Health has the same core values in patient and family care that I do. They put their patients needs first and are always willing to assist them with any medical services they need.

When I’m not working I can often be seen spending time with my family. My family is everything to me."
