I know, I know.. it's been a minute.

I've been reducing my time spent on social media the latter part of this year, and it's been a great decision for me!

But I wanted to stop in to wish everyone a happy holiday season!

For some people this is a very joyful time of year. For others... not so much. If you are struggling, please reach out for support!

Wishing you lots of peace and health.❀️

It is so surreal that STTS has turned 1!

Throughout this year, I've been forced out of my comfort zone. I've grown more as a person and clinician then I ever felt possible.

And I'm the happiest in my work than I've ever been in my life.

Thank you so much to everyone that has encouraged me along the way; trusted me with their friends and family; listened to me as I expressed my insecurities as a business owner.

And to my clients (both past and present), there would be no STTS without you. I feel the biggest honor and privilege to share space with such amazing human beings. I learn from you everyday, and your lives and stories have made me a better person. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

To another year! ❀️

If this is you, please know you are not alone. Today is a day to take care of yourself.

Some basic ideas to ease some of the pain could be: noise canceling headphones, grounding through your sense (5-4-3-2-1 technique), spending the evening with a loved one, and normalizing your experience and reminding yourself it is temporary.

I've been reflecting a lot lately on things I bring into my life that feel "nourishing."

My whole system (body, brain, emotions) can definitely identify when certain things I do or allow myself to indulge in do not feel right for me. That may look like anxiety, fast heart rate, feelings of shame, etc.

But I've also noticed when things feel like they are filling me up or giving my body what it needs.

So, for today, I wonder if you could explore this for yourself. What are things that you engage in (e.g. activities, self-care, entertainment outlets) that feel nourishing to you? Can you make sure to engage in one of those today?

Whatever those things are in your life that give you more clarity, a sense of calm, and a deeper curiosity are even more essential to do in those times of anxiety, confusion, or anger.

Sometimes that means us addressing those things that are stirring up our system so that they are seen and heard. A lot of times, as a result of this time spent with the issue, you can gain a little space from the disturbance.

Some things that have been helpful for me lately to increase my clarity and curiosity is journaling my thoughts (the good, bad, and ugly) and to spend time with the part of myself that feels it needs to stay on top of everything (all the time!) to see what it needs from me.

So, this is your encouragement to do more of those things that lead you to a greater sense of clarity, calm, and curiosity!

Today's reflection challenges you to take a look inward.

We spend a lot of our time focused on tasks, other people, work... the list goes on. But we can lose out on developing a relationship with ourselves if our focus is always outward.

So, how can you begin to go inward and get to know yourself a little bit more?

🌞This may take the form of just reflecting on the first thing you notice as you close your eyes and go inward.
🌞It could also mean acknowledging aches and pains (both mentally and physically) you have been ignoring.
🌞Or it could mean addressing a yearning you have or a spark of creativity you haven't explored yet.

Enjoy your time with YOU today! ❀️

With May being Mental Health Awareness Month, I'll be offering various prompts for reflection throughout the month that pertain to mental health.

Today's reflection: How can you support one person in your life that you know is struggling or has a mental health struggle?

Examples:
*Does this look like a check-in with this person that goes a bit deeper than everyday "catching up"?
*Can you be an active listener as this person discloses pain?
*Are there ways you can be of service?

Many of us when we think of seasonal affective disorder think of winter depression.

But summer depression is very real for a portion of the population. What this may look like is:
*trouble sleeping
*loss of appetite
*increased irritability
*restlessness, etc.

There are many contributing factors to why this may be, including change of schedules in the summer months, financial stressors (and expectations), and changes in humidity and weather.

What can you do to gain more support during the summer months if summertime sadness is real for you?

Happy Monday! 🌞
