I had the best time hosting Coffee & Chat with my LEAF colleagues! ☕️

Thankful for A.J. allowing us to use the office as a meeting place and for the LPCA of GA to give us a reason to get together! 🫶🏻

We asked you last year during Disability Pride Month what is one thing you wish the people around you understood about living with a disability.

Here are some things you mentioned:

💖 “Just because a disability isn’t visible doesn’t mean it’s not there.”
💖 “I am not less of a person. I am not less capable, less lovable, or less worthy. I deserve to be here.”
💖 “Not all pain is visible. And just because my symptoms or struggles can’t be see by you does not mean they’re not valid. You never know what someone is going through, so please be kind.”
💖 “Just because I use a wheelchair doesn’t mean I need others to speak or act for me.”
💖 “My chronic illness takes such a toll on my mental health. I wish more people could understand that. I wish we had more su***de prevention support.”
💖 “Just because you don’t see my disability does not negate the fact it affects so much of my existence.”
💖 “There is nothing fundamentally wrong with me. I am still a completely whole person even if I have a disability.”

For those who are reading this today, and living with a disability we want you to know that you’re not a burden. You are not less lovable or less worthy. You deserve to be here. And you are worthy of equality, care, and kindness from the people and systems around you.

Happy Disability Pride Month.

Please be a good neighbor and celebrate responsibly. ❤🤍💙

Happy Pride Month!!! 🏳️‍🌈

Pride is so much more than just a celebration.
It’s a reminder that the LGBTQIA+ community is still fighting for safety, acceptance, justice, and visibility.
It’s a reminder that mental health statistics for q***r people are sobering, with the fact that 39% of LGBTQIA+ young people seriously considered attempting su***de last year, while 12% completed su***de.
It’s a reminder than trans folks experience significantly increased rates of fatal violence and hate crimes.
It’s a reminder to use your privilege to advocate for others. That human rights are on the line.

May this month be full of advocacy, education, and joy. ✨
