As a Latina therapist, mamá, and wife, my journey has been full of love, loss, and hard choices. After marrying my husband and welcoming him to the U.S., we trusted a family-recommended immigration lawyer - only to be scammed and left vulnerable. The fear of separation and legal limbo weighed heavy on our hearts, especially with our 3-year-old watching and feeling the tension.
Leaving the U.S. wasn’t easy. We packed up our daughter, our pets, and our hopes for peace, choosing safety and dignity over fear. We felt we some friends who couldn’t understand (not even sure) but we were held by others with quiet love and unwavering support.
Though I’m now practicing therapy from abroad, I still serve clients from California and Colorado (I am licensed in both states), holding space with my bilingual, culturally grounded heart.
This is our story - imperfect, unfiltered, and full of courage. For anyone feeling alone in their journey, know you’re seen and not alone. Sometimes safety is a choice we make for the ones we love.
