Hematoma : a collection of blood outside of blood vessels .

A common misconception about developing a hematoma after a blood draw is that it is at the fault of the phlebotomist. While in some cases this can be true , usually bruising can be prevented with adequate pressure to draw site .

As you can see in the above picture a gauze and wrap comfortably secured around the draw site . we instruct each client to leave it in for 10-15 mins .
