Typically micro trauma over time leads to irritation or microtears in the plantar fascia.

For the most part passive modalities address the pain with a temporary reduction however won’t improve your symptoms long term.

Training with incline and/or uphill allows you to work on pace and with an increased level of intensity that’s hard to mimic on level terrain.

Over time this will improved your level terrain speed and running economy ie you won’t fatigue as rapidly.

Right now countless people are frantic to start their new resolution.

The fact of the matter is most of these plans fail. They make all of these goals to “eat better and hit the gym” only to sign up for an entire year, pay the astronomical personal trainer package, and go for a month or less.

Goals are wonderful but only consistency matters.

Here’s a few words of wisdom:

1. Make a structure that you can stick to twice a week, five times a week, ect.

2. Don’t go so aggressive right out the gate that you’re at risk for injury of so sore that you’re miserable.

3. Make it part of your lifestyle verses having to go.

4. Stop making excuses. A 30 min session is better than skipping .

5. If you need one, get an accountability partner or at least somebody who feels you they haven’t seen you for a while.

6. If you decide it’s not for so, at least cancel your subscription so you’re not paying for something you’re not using.

There around countless ways that poor technique, training, and intake can ruin a good race.

Marathon training takes dedication, discipline, and consistency both mentally and physically.

Overtraining can lead to injury, under training can lead to injury, and faulty mechanics or big volume jumps can lead to a significant injury such as a stress fracture.

Over the years I’ve worked with countless athletes to minimize their injury risk and maximize their speed and performance.

There is no minimum amount of force needed that can cause a concussion.

Many symptoms can be subtle and go unnoticed by the patient and those around him.

Common symptoms can include:

Headaches
Vision changes
Hearing changes
Light sensitivity
Sleep changes
Anxiety/depression/irritability
Changes in grades
and many others

When a concussion is suspected, do your due diligence and seek a medical evaluation.

High blood pressure is usually slow and influenced by genetic and lifestyle factors.

By the time the damage is seen it’s usually substantial and often time irreparable.

Constant high blood pressure which is above the average of 110-130/60-80 can result in:

Decreased kidney function
Cardiac disease
Risk for stroke
Risk for aneurysm
Fatigue
And other health related complications

If you’re experiencing elevated blood pressure be smart, seek your medical provider.

Most schools and athletic programs are ill-equipped to condition athlete’s adequately.

Insufficient flexibility programs
Insufficient recovery time
Insufficient strengthening
Insufficient nutrition
Uneven playing terrain
Outdated equipment

Given the above mentioned we must be even more vigilant with the safety, conditioning, and aftercare for our younger athletes to minimize their risk for an injury.

Having a healthy cardiac output is critical. It helps to improve both blood pressure and heart rate as it improved the efficiency of the blood pumped out of the heart per beat.

Either too high or too low can indicate impairments in the cardiovascular system which should be addressed.

Overall the efficiency of volume ejection from the heart (cardiac output) improves with exercise and conditioning.
