At the Cherry County Fair this year, Cody-Kilgore High School Junior, Wesley Willert, presented a handmade quilt of valor to retired Army Captain Jesse Wint, honoring his nearly 28 years of military service.
Captain Wint enlisted in the Army at age 19 following the Gulf War and went on to serve in multiple Middle East conflicts, including Operation Desert Storm, Iraqi Freedom, Desert Fox, and others. Over his career, he was deployed 12 times, often spending holidays away from his family in service to our country. He received numerous honors, including multiple Army Commendation and Achievement Awards, as well as recognition for the Global War on Terrorism.
One of Captain Wint’s most memorable moments came when he delivered a baby in the back of an armored vehicle while deployed—showcasing his lifelong dedication to caring for others, even under the toughest conditions.
After retiring in 2018, Jesse has continued serving through healthcare as a firefighter, EMT, flight nurse, ER nurse, nursing instructor, and now as Chief Nursing Officer at Cherry County Hospital.
We are proud to have Jesse as part of our team and community. Please join us in thanking him for his service, sacrifice, and continued dedication to caring for others.
🇺🇸 Thank you, Captain Wint! 🇺🇸
