Thank you, Piper, for joining the 21st Annual 100.7 WHUD Radiothon at Maria Fareri Children's Hospital!

Piper has been in and out of Maria Fareri Children’s Hospital since she was 21 months old due to a condition called Gastroparesis, which slows or stops the movement of food from her stomach to her small intestine. Despite her condition and the placement of a GJ tube to help her body properly absorb nutrients, Piper doesn’t let anything slow her down. Piper received the nickname ‘The Mayor’ during her hospital stay, because she made friends with everyone she met.

Thank you, Livy, for joining the 21st Annual 100.7 WHUD Radiothon at Maria Fareri Children's Hospital!

At just 7 years old, Livy was diagnosed with Severe Aplastic Anemia, a rare condition in which the bone marrow does not produce an adequate number of new blood cells. After being unable to find a bone marrow match from the national registry, Livy qualified for a clinical trial where doctors at Maria Ferrari Children’s hospital were able to use her mom as her donor. During her transplant, Livy contracted a life-threatening virus and the doctors here were able to take additional blood cells from
her mom, engineer them to fight the virus and implant them into Livy. Today, Livy is 3 years post-transplant and doing great! She hopes to be an EMT or trauma surgeon
when she’s older.

Thank you, Journee-Lee, for joining the 21st Annual 100.7 WHUD Radiothon at Maria Fareri Children's Hospital!

Journee-Lee’s story is one of remarkable strength and resilience. At just three years old, she was diagnosed with Rhabdomyosarcoma, a rare and aggressive cancer. Journee-Lee quickly underwent surgery to remove a tumor, followed by 40 weeks of intensive chemotherapy and localized radiation therapy. Through every challenge, she faced treatment with determination and an unwavering spirit—waking up from surgery ready to play basketball and embracing each step with courage. Today, she is cancer-free and thriving, full of energy and joy, loving the pool, playground, and sports like basketball and soccer. Independent and creative, Journee-Lee continues to inspire everyone around her with her strength and passion for life.

Thank you, Alex, for joining the 21st Annual @100.7whud Radiothon at Maria Fareri Children's Hospital!

When 14-year-old Alex was brought to Maria Fareri Children’s Hospital after a bicycle accident with a dump truck in the summer of 2024, the Rockland County boy was clinging to life. Suffering from a shattered pelvis and massive blood loss, Alex spent three months in the hospital undergoing 20 surgical procedures and overcoming serious complications. After slowly relearning how to sit, stand, and walk and undergoing months of additional rehab, Alex is walking again and is back in school as a ninth grader at Clarkstown South.

🏅 Congratulations to everyone who completed the TCS New York City Marathon!

This year, a dedicated group of Westchester Medical Center Health Network (WMCHealth) employees, patients, and family members went the distance — 26.2 miles — to support WMCHealth!

👏 Please join us in celebrating our incredible runners: Adam Cox, Juan Trias, Otto Palao, Justin Williams, Kelly Peach, Rachel Cross, Marc Stepper, Victor Stevens, and Nabeel Ahmed.

Pictured here is Adam Cox (proud father of six-year-old Christopher), who ran his third marathon in support of the pediatric neurology department at Maria Fareri Children’s Hospital. When Christopher was just two years old, he was diagnosed with epilepsy and began receiving care at Maria Fareri Children’s Hospital. Today, Adam runs each year to honor the expert care Christopher has received.💙

Thank you to our incredible community of runners and supporters for helping Maria Fareri Children’s Hospital provide advanced care for kids — close to home. 🏥💛
