At Blythedale, many of our employees began their journey with one goal: helping medically complex children heal.

During our latest Schwartz Rounds, Valisa Henry, Therapeutic Recreation Specialist; Linda Fieback, PT, DPT, MA, PCS, Director of Physical Therapy; and Chana Katz, RN, WCC, Nursing Supervisor, shared the stories behind their journeys with facilitator and Spiritual Care Practitioner Whitney Wilkerson, MDiv, BCC, NBC-HWC; detailing how they started and what continues to inspire their care every day.

Together, they bring over 100 years of service, and their reflections on compassion, resilience, and purpose inspired everyone who attended. 💙

Over the past few weeks, incredible partners in our community have stepped up in meaningful ways to support the children and families we serve — all through thoughtful off‑site projects that make a real difference.

💛 The Blanket Bridge
The junior class at Eastchester High School made 24 no-sew blankets during their MLK Jr. service day, as a tangible expression of community support and compassion.

🥣 Community Café Care Bags
The Hackley School made 50 bags for our monthly gathering of families of our hospitalized children, offering a space for these caregivers to share a nourishing meal and connect with others facing similar challenges.

🎨 Recreational Activity Kits
As part of her Girl Scouts Gold Award, Elissa put together 100 slime kits for our therapists, giving our patients a fun, sensory activity that’s always a big hit!

✨ We’re so grateful for the creativity, compassion, and commitment behind these off‑site volunteer projects. They bring comfort, joy, and a sense of community to the families who need it most.

We were pleased to welcome colleagues from Westchester Medical Center to learn more about our approach to treating and preventing pressure ulcers and complex wounds in pediatric patients.

Our specialized complex wound rehabilitation team provides comprehensive inpatient burn and complex wound rehabilitation for children referred from regional tertiary care centers.
