"I have wanted to be a dermatologist since I was a child. I grew up the daughter of an amazing trailblazing female academic dermatologist and consider myself very lucky that I am able to follow her path into the best specialty in Medicine. Dermatologists are the experts in Skin as well as hair and nails. The most important thing I learned from my Dermatologist Mother is to wear sunscreen every single day, rain or shine. The rays of the sun, and the UV light they transmit, damage our DNA and make us look older than we are. It is important to wear SPF 30 or above and to reapply often when outdoors or driving in the car. Please see a board certified dermatologist to keep your skin looking young, healthy and cancer free."

Happy National Dermatologists Day! 🎉 Reflecting on my 23-year journey in dermatologic surgery, I feel immense gratitude. My mentor, Dr. John Geisse, played a crucial role in shaping my career, providing invaluable insights and expertise in this challenging field.
Dermatologic Surgery appealed to me because of its intricate nature and the profound impact it has on patients' lives. Specializing in reconstructive surgery, particularly on the head and neck, requires precision and a focus on the artistic nature of surgery. It's this complexity and the need for meticulous attention to detail that I find most rewarding.
The most fulfilling aspect of my work is seeing the positive changes in my patients. Helping them overcome skin cancer and maintain their aesthetics is a privilege that motivates me every day.
On this National Dermatologists Day, I want to extend my appreciation to my colleagues, mentors, and patients who have been part of this journey. Here's to continuing our efforts in advancing dermatology and making a meaningful difference in the lives of those we serve!

"Dermatology is a fantastic field of medicine. The skin is the largest organ of our complex inter-connected biological system and is critical to our health and well-being. Dermatologists and dermatologic physician assistants are experts in all diseases of the skin, hair, nails, and mucosal surfaces, such as the mouth, eyes, and ge****ls.
We are experts in the medical and surgical management of skin diseases and skin cancer, with many years of specialized training.
Our textbooks are some of the thickest! It is not uncommon for serious medical diseases to present themselves first in the skin, requiring the advanced diagnostic skills of a trained dermatologic provider.
The skin protects us from harmful rays of the sun and other carcinogens we come in contact with, but unfortunately is not a failsafe system. Sunburns can cause permanent damage to our DNA, the first step in the complex multi-step process that
leads to many skin cancers.

- Learn what triggers your Rosacea. You can play a vital role in managing your disease by keeping a journal of what leads to a flare of your symptoms. This often includes sunlight, spicy foods, alcohol, and other environmental triggers.
- Choose skin care products carefully. Patients with Rosacea have sensitive skin and are not able to tolerate many of the products on the market. Consult with your dermatologist on gentle skin care products formulated for people with Rosacea to decrease your risk of flaring.
- Wear skin products with a green tint. The green color can mask the underlying redness caused by Rosacea. Avoid make ups with pink or orange hues.
- Discuss treatment options with your dermatologist. Treatment options include topical creams, oral antibiotics and laser treatments such as pulsed dye laser and Intense pulsed light.
