A picture is worth a thousand words, and this one tells the story of improved vision for Long Islanders! Our Board of Directors recently donated a Kona Corneal Endothelial Camera to Nassau University Medical Center’s Department of Ophthalmology. This vital equipment will help doctors like our Medical Director, Dr. Henry Perry and Residency Program Director and Chairman of Dept. of Ophthalmology Dr. Marcelle Morcos, provide even better care to patients in need of corneal transplants. Congratulations Lions Eye Bank Board Treasurer Greta Salsbury

Congratulations to Lion Greta Salsbury, a charter/founder member of Springfield Gardens Lions Club Queens, recipient of the Earl and Ruth Williams Distinguished Service Award 2025. An award given in honor of our beloved leaders of Brooklyn and Queens, Past District Governors Earl and Ruth Williams.

“Service is the rent we pay” while being on earth. Community service is a powerful tool that can create a positive and transformative impact on both individuals and society as a whole. It is a way for individuals to give back, contribute and make a difference in the lives of others.
Lion Greta is service oriented individual and has been involved in many successful service activities in Brooklyn and Queens aka 20-K1 for several years.

Lion Greta was instrumental in securing a grant from the Lions 20-K1 Foundation when disaster struck the place of worship in Queens and meeting place of her club. She worked with her community board, block association; elected officials office in Queens including Senator Saunders to bring much needed services to her community. The Springfield Library and many other organizations in NY and abroad including her native St. Kitts. She introduced a scholarship fund at the Lions Eye Bank of Long Island after serving as treasurer to the Lions Eye Bank. I had the privilege to serve with Lion Greta when she served as Cabinet Treasurer to PDG Charles McBride and I served as Cabinet Secretary.

I have also traveled the world with Lion Greta attending Lions International Convention and USA/Canada Forums she will always have interesting sightseeing events planned as we travelled with Lions.

2025 Midwinter Convention was indeed a proud moment for me as the recipients of the PDGA awards were Lions who I have had a close working relationship with serving the district over the years. In addition, the candidates for 2nd Vice District Governor also were members of my cabinet.
