Pathology processing involves receiving a patient's tissue or fluid sample, properly labeling and preparing it, and then processing it for microscopic examination to aid diagnosis. This typically includes fixation, embedding the tissue in paraffin wax, sectioning it into thin slices with a microtome, mounting them on a slide, staining the slices (often with H&E stain), and submitting to a pathologist for review under a microscope.
