In the early hours of Tuesday morning, BFD C-Shift was dispatched to the 100 block of Lee Road 798 in response to a reported structure fire. The caller indicated that a storage building was fully engulfed in flames, posing a threat to a nearby residence. The incident was quickly upgraded to a "working fire", prompting additional fire companies to respond due to concerns about multiple exposure hazards.
Firefighters arrived on the scene just four minutes after the initial 911 call and encountered a medium-sized, single-story wood-frame garage fully engulfed in flames. They identified three occupied structures in close proximity, raising significant exposure concerns. Fire crews quickly deployed three separate 1 3/4" hose lines to conduct fire suppression and protect the surrounding structures. During this operation, a large propane tank began venting pressure, creating a 50-foot flame that emitted intense heat toward nearby buildings. Firefighters quickly applied water to both the exposure structures and the main fire building, successfully containing the blaze to the primary structure and preventing damage to adjacent residences. The fire was logged under control approximately one hour after fire department arrival, with no injuries reported at the scene. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
The Beulah Fire Department responded with two apparatus and five personnel, remaining on scene for about two and a half hours before returning to service. Smiths Station Fire Protection District and Lee County Sheriff's Office Alabama also responded to the scene for assistance.
