his National Health Center Week, we're celebrating 60 years of America's community health centers. 🎉

In Indiana, 1 in 10 Hoosiers rely on CHCs like HealthLinc for their primary medical, dental, vision and behavioral health care - many of them children who depend on Medicaid to access these vital services.

In 2023, Indiana's CHCs saved the state an estimated $943.7 million in Medicaid costs and saved the state's health system $1.4 billion by preventing emergency room visits due to our comprehensive preventative care. While savings for 2024 haven't been released yet, it's estimated that these savings will continue to grow.

CHCs do more than your average doctor's office. We're your one-stop-shop for medical, dental, vision and behavioral health - plus support services that truly change lives. From sliding fee scales to help with housing, food, transportation and more, CHCs break down barrier and build up communities. 💪

To keep making a difference, CHCs must remain strong, supported and fully funded. Without CHCs, millions of Americans would lose access to the care they depend on - and we cannot let that happen.

We are incredibly grateful for Community Foundation of St. Joseph County, Indiana and their support for HealthLinc Mishawaka. With their help, we added over 11,130 square feet of clinic space, adding 10 exam rooms for OB visits, four for behavioral health appointments, six for chiropractic and three for optometry visits. This expansion allows us to see an additional 4,667 patients with more than 14,000 visits by the end of the year. Thank you, Community Foundation of St. Joseph County, for supporting HealthLinc and all you do for our community!

We are excited to share that Dr. Lawrence Ramunno, HealthLinc’s chief medical officer, was awarded the Hope Award at Coaches vs. Cancer's Night of the Stars. As our CMO, Dr. Ramunno led the implementation of a new protocol in the electronic health record system to identify patients aged 45 and older needing colorectal cancer screening. More than 1,040 patients have been identified as eligible for a no-cost Cologuard test, helping to reduce patient costs and increase life-saving screenings for those who need it most.

Thank you, Dr. Ramunno, for your continued leadership, innovative thinking and commitment to community partnerships. You are tackling healthcare challenges in our communities!

🚨 It's almost time! Our community health fair is tomorrow at La Porte Civic Auditorium from 4:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. CST.

HealthLinc La Porte is offering no-cost health screenings for the whole family and sports physicals* during the event. Plus, enjoy giveaways, raffles, food and fun for the whole family! LaPorte County Health Department will be there providing vaccinations to attendees, including TDap, HPV, MMR and more. Walk-ins are welcome – no appointment necessary!

HealthLinc La Porte and HealthLinc La Porte Pediatrics are also offering no-cost well-child checkups and sports physicals for the entire week of the event*. Please call 219-326-0043 ext. 3100 to schedule their appointment.
