It is with extreme mixed emotion that I am announcing Asana Yoga Center's closure.
I've taught for twenty years at our Lincolnway location. Five years out of my home and the YMCA. Two years out of a horse barn! Plenty of schools, homes, senior centers, churches and gymnasiums, and a few backyards. I've even taught inside a Dairy Queen. And, of course, online for the past five years.
I've done this for so long because I believe in yoga that much. Absolutely anybody can do it and the benefits are simply incalculable. It has kept me fit - and sane - since I was 28 (OMG thirty years ago!) I always say if you think I'm a little fierce/nutty/unhinged/bizarre now, you should see me WITHOUT the yoga!
I am blessed to have spent so much time with all of you. You gave me a reason to get up in the morning, a reason to smile, and a reason to continue studying. You gave me hard work, so much laughter, and yes, even friendship. You tolerated the "inappropriate yoga center" enough to make it a moniker of something akin to pride for me. And, because of all of you, I have never had to work a day in my life.
I hate to let it all go. But most of you know my life is changing rapidly. Michael and I are currently seeking a place in Chicago to spend a few years before deciding where to retire. Our children are grown and we want to finally stretch out to become involved with more things than Valpo can offer us. (If you know of someone who wants to buy or rent a great house be sure to let me know.)
The studio will officially close on October 30. (Current students may continue to study with me at my house until we leave, but that is a separate email.) Come take a final class and say goodbye, if you care to!
In the meantime, there are props for sale! Contact me if you are interested in anything but I am also listing them on the Asana Yoga Center Book of Faces page. I am also selling the cubbies, the wooden sitting benches, furnishings and "artwork."
Thank you so much for having made this dream of mine possible. It has been a joyful ride indeed.
Much love,
Dana
"But not with your mouth like that!"
